As I have read various posts today on the subject of VP  Palin and her views and experience one in particular struck me. It appears that awhile back she stated that the war in Iraq was one God wanted us to win

"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending [U.S. soldiers] out on a task that is from God," she exhorted the congregants. "That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."

Anybody that claims to know what God's will or plan is makes me nervous. Far too many people have died in God's name in "holy Wars". The crusades pop to mine fairly easily. I for one cannot conceive of a God that wants his people to die in his name weather it be Allah or Jehovah If Ms Palin truly believes that God wants us to conquer Irag( an imposible task in my opinion) and spread Chritianity , of whatever denomination I am very worried.

Yeah, she needs to leave that kind of talk alone. I hear a lot of long time Christians say things like that. I understand the principle of a supposedly moral America fighting the satanic muslims.....but I won't fault her too much right now. Maybe later.

You do understand that the Muslims we are fighting see this as a holy war, right?

Momcat, do you want to know God's will for your life?

Do you?

I ask because you'll find it in the Bible.

By the way, many have forfeited their lives for the God you don't understand.

Try just peeping at Hebrews 11:32-40.

I found that myspace page for Bristol's boyfriend that everyone has been quoting - http://www.myspace.com/levi_johnson

looks like a giant joke to me.

Thanks, Scotty. I am much too busy these days to take part in the blogs, but I appreciate your comments that match mine. I am watching the Republican Convention on television and the pathetic all out attacks by the media throughout. (Something that we didn't see during the weeklong dance between the media and Obama.)

Scotty,
I don't think God wants me to kill for Him.I don't think that is the mission of the Prince of Peace. This is not about my belief it is about Ms Palin's belief that God want's us to win a war.

I have no doubt we are in a holy war. I have blogged it here.

The reason I think she needs to leave that alone is because of the audience. She is not saying anything any longer to a church congregation. Every word from her mouth is to the globe.

Too many would see her words as provocative in her new position. I think she should say she believes in and follows God. Never deny it.
But in her position, her words carry added emphasis that America must have descretion with.

That's why I gave her a pass for now.

I don't know God's will for this war myself. He has used the enemies of Israel to judge them.
He may do the same thing with us now or later. The Eagle carries Israel for a while and then you don't hear that reference anymore.

Only God knows His will for the war.

One thing: her quote asks that there is a plan and that it be God's plan.

That is scriptural. We are to pray that God's will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. She was mirroring that premise. She is also praying for our leaders.

Good, sound prayer, actually.

Look, if he wants us to win it we will. If not then to bad.

This war is no win win for anybody and it is sure not a win for god. God is frowning on people loosing there lives over materialistic things as well as all of the hate amongst one another. God was a peacful man and all of this racist hate, deadly wars ect. has to stop. God will have the last say so not us. The only thing we should ask God for regarding this war is to watch over the troops and everybody else involved.

Scot,
That is one interpretation and it could be valid. The whole theory that this might be God's plan makes me highly uneasy. I agree with Shine,By all means pray for the safety of the soldiers, pray for the war to end . I just cannot feel any of it is God's will . HE didn't bring us to this war our Government did
