I hate it when people stereotype Texans . You know what I am talking about. Those poor souls who think JR and Sue Ellen are typical. Those who think that oil is pumping out in the back yard and we hitch our horse up to go to town.  We don't all drive trucks, wear boots , sport giant belt buckles or  have big hair. There fore I was appalled to see what was apparently the entire Texas delegation at the RNC wearing straw stetsons , or their cheaper equivalent. People it's bad enough you backed a faux Texan with GW don't perpetuate that awful sterotype . ARGHHHH I want some cheese and white wine, .

I'm sixth generation, could not BE more Texan, I admit to a slight twang , when deeply ticked. But I have never owned a stetson or a pair of boots that weren't proper English riding boots or mmmmm Italian leather. Hats? my gran taught me they either came from Maison Blanche in New Orleans or Mr. Stanly's store, Nieman Marcus

Mine have all been Resistol...I'm just partial to them. A straw one though...no. They usually pick the worst examples to display on T.V. it seems. Now the boots have either been Ariats or Justin with one Tony Llama thrown in the mix, and never those cockroach killers either(pointed toe)lol.Yea the stereotype is so laughable sometimes.

I've got a straw one,but it's for doing my outside work around the house.Haven't had my Resistal or Justins out in years.I am also sixth generation Texan and my twang is very Texican.Never been in Nieman Marcus.Delivered their warehouse a few times. It was usually half a load of sweaters and the other half went to Wal Mart in Temple.

Much prefer Larry Mahan boots, very soft!!

I love cowboy hats. Had fake hair stapled into it while undergoing chemo some years ago.

I love felt & straw, but not the cheap felt that looks like nutria!!

funny story........almost related to this.....

Flew to Alaska......landed in Anchorage.....nice town...........not what you'd expect.......

The lady next to me was from Texas......like me...

when we cleared the mountains and the Anchorage skyline came into view.......she looked out the window and said......

"there's no igloos.....it looks just like a real town......they have buildings and everything......"

I tried hard not to laugh.....
