If I have been  absent since my birthday, a lovely one by the way, it is because I have had a plethora of house guests.
Our sweet foster daughter, was under a mandatory evacuation from her home in Orange. She called late in the afternoon of the 11th and asked if we minded if she brought the boyfriend.  That was of course no problem. A later phone call revealed that his family also was evacuating and had no place to stay.  This gave us an excuse to "meet the parents". They were wonderful people and we really liked them.  We also like their daughter, her daughter , the two weenie dogs  and four canaries. Eventually we had 8 adults, 1 child, 11 standard poodles, two weenie  dogs 4 cats and several canaries and 2 and half baths. Bear in mind I am counting a 19 year old girl as an adult. Have you ever asked a teen age girl to share a bathroom ? It was great fun, I cooked mass quantities of consumables and we played a lot of games. I loved coloring with the baby and I got a chance to really know the young man our daughter is dating.  I was amazed at how cheerful and strong they all were. It was obvious they were very worried but  they  had done everything could to protect and prepare their home after that it was in God's hands.. I would have been a nervous wreck/ They left early this morning  and called a little earlier to say that they had minimal damage and limited services but  were cooking outside and were going to bed with the chickens. The house is very quiet tonight , I miss them already.

I can't imagine having that many people in my house.

I attended a funeral in Waco yesterday. Several calls were made to hotels to find a room before we finally found one. There were several families staying there who had evacuated. I am not sure where they were from but at breakfast, they were all talking about their homes, whether or how close power was to there neighborhoods.

I saw two women trying to cope with an autistic (I think) teenager. I know kids with autism do not handle change well.

Watching and listening (yes, I was evesdropping) made me realize how much those poor people are going through.
