When I was a kid growing up in the DFW area there were two weather men, Warren Culbertson and Harold Taft. When I moved to Waxahachie over 20 years ago I met MY weather man Mr. Culbertson. He was a charming, errudite man who was a delight to know and talk too. He was active in Waxahachie and remained a hometown boy untill he passed away this weekend. He will be greatly missed.

I know this isn't new but it's hot and the violence is rising with the mercury, Family violence,, random shootings, murder suicides all up. I noticed two police shootings today, one involved a robbery and the other family violence.I think our tempers fray far quicker in the heat.I am sure road rage is rising too. I remember the summer of 1980. I was pregnant and too miserable to do anything but sit in a cow trough up to my double chin all summer.. My neighbor at that time worked in the JPS emergency room and said it was a three month mad house. Soooo.....Keep cool people and avoid the hot heads/

I don't know about the rest of you but I hate snails and their cousins the slugs. I am suffering from an invasion this year too. Not just little spiral snails. Great big honking giants as big as my thumbs. I put out salt and snail bait but they seem to just move to another part of the yard. I admit I have a huge yard but holey Moley. I saw at LEAST 100 of them today after the rain UGGGH. I live in Ellis county but I wonder if they have spread from the south side of Lake Waxahachie and elsewhere. AM I alone in my battle on these nasty flower eating little buggers?

We got off light here but the noise was terrific. I live with a pack of standard poodles one of whom is terrified of storm so we spent the night with a hundred pound poodle in our bed. A trip to buy mulch this morning revealed some heavy wind damge in the area with the roof blown off one of the local motels. Texas in the spring is a trade off wildflowers for wild winds. I'd still rather live here than anywhere else in the world
