I guess I was still a Dinosaur....!!

GL.jpg Greased LIGHTNING image by johnzavala

Say what you want about Charter, but today I was proven that there is no faster internet.... Thinking that I already had the fastest internet is an understatement...... Having a few problems with my net connection led me to talking to a tech on the phone..... We both agreed that it was probably a worn out modem...... But as we talked he informed me tha he could change a couple of things on my account and double the internet speed with no additional monthly charge....... Informing him that I already had the pipeline high speed service, he laughed and informed me that yes I do have that service but there is one faster....... So free is free and after agreeing to the changes a service tech was dispatched and showed up right on time....... After finding a problem in the cable and installing a new bigger and better modem I was set to surf once again......... Oh my goodness....... It takes seconds for the simple stuff....... You Tube videos will download twice as fast as they play...... Even the Fox 2 videos play straight through....... I just couldn't imagine dial up anymore..... Some things are just better if it's faster......

What else in life needs to be speeded up....??

Untitled-2.gif Control freaks x_Biz_200x80 image by jefroe

We are all mentally ill....... Unless you live under a rock there will be something that will alter your mental realm and you will interpret things a little different than the next guy......... Most  mental illnesses are harmless and some are actually fun..... I have always loved the class clowns or the guy that is the life of the party sort......... There are neat freaks..... Pack rats....... Ones that can't stand for their food to touch the other food on a plate..... Exercise buffs...... Groupies.......  And many many more ..... One illness that seems to be very common these days is the Control Freak...... Although all of us suffer from it in some harmless form, some will take it to  stupidity and some even to a dangerous level

"The need to control is almost always fueled by anxiety – though control freaks seldom recognize their fears. "

Many spouse relationships can turn deadly because of this obsession.....

Hopefully all of us have  normal mental illnesses...

What's the worst  Control Freak you've  met ?

african-elephant-fig1.jpg Elephant image by Jelloskankin

In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University .

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully. He got down on one knee, inspected the elephants foot, and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day. Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man. Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter could not help wondering if this was the same elephant. Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing, and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly. Probably wasn't the same elephant...!!

Incognito needs to go Incognito.....!!

see-ya.gif see ya image by orochimaru11

Would you act like an idiot in front of the person that pays your salary....... Well Mr. Incognito has been doing just that........ It's the fan that pays 7 dollars for a beer and inflated food prices and buys season tickets to pay him a salary that most of us would just dream of....... I used to like to watch Mr. Inconito play ball...... But since I have learned a little about his attitude towards us I could care less if they bench him and release him for the rest of the year.......

Would you bite the hand that feeds you........??

Are they after Lori Drew or recognition....??

Resizeofist2_2663047_scales_of_just.jpg Justice image by Mering_photos

Milestone cases make great for the advancement of the careers of many..... Lawyers and Judges get a lot of attention and name recognition to advance in their fields..... This case being a first of it's kind has become a feeding frenzy for the media and the who's who wannabe's in the law field..... With all the eyes turned the only moves made by anyone will be those that will make them look the best in the eyes of others..... At this point it is any body's call what will happen..... My prediction is it will be allowed an appeal so there can be another round of this high profile grandstanding......

Shouldn't Politics be left out of the courts...??

There are some advantages to the recession.....!!!

Have you noticed that the lines are getting smaller and smaller...... Today I got a haircut, rotated the tires on my van, and went shopping at a couple of stores....... The one common element for today was no waiting....... Three workers at the tire store with nothing to do..... It wasn't even necessary to park before they took it in the stall..... No waiting at Great Clips....... Walked sraight to the chair....... Nobody in front of me at the checkout at the stores......... And the traffic on the road was next to none...... Numbers not needed to be taken at the meat market........ Today was like a scene out of the Twilight Zone..... It's a sign of bad times ahead but a day of no hustle and bustle was nice.....

What's  the economy slump  changed for you ?

Any  tips for keeping your house warm...??

winter_home3.gif Winter Cabin image by Bear-45-70

Are you ready for the cold....... Sitting at the Eagles today by the big glass windows one could feel the outside wind as if the windows were not even there.....  A little caulk would definately slow down that air but totally stopping it in that old building is all but impossible...... But it serves as a reminder that I need to go around my house and look for ways to slow down Old Man Winter wanting to creep into my home.... There are so many things that can be done to save on heating and cooling...... One of my best secrets is to put a fan in the hottest room in the house and have it blowing air out of that room into the rest of the house...... It cuts down on the time that the furnace runs..... A little caulking and good winter curtains can also go a long way...... Sunny days the shades open will help.... The link below has a good article about properly insulating your home......

Taurus The Bull....!!!

43064c2KH_w.jpg bull image by steeves1014

With sensual Taurus, the Bull, as your star sign, the Sun shone through an earth sign on your birthday. The Sun in astrology stands for your inner nature, the stamp of your true character.

The second sign of the Zodiac, Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love and desire. A fixed (strong and solid) sign, Taurus governs practicality and security. It is a feminine sign and very magnetic. Practical, reliable Taureans are great lovers of sensual pleasures, although you do tend to be rather stubborn, possessive and conservative.

Firmly anchored in the material world, you have a fine grasp of what is needed in order to lead the good life. Of course, you are capable in emergencies, where you have an instinctive understanding of what to do, but under normal circumstances, no-one can force you into anything without due time for thought and consideration.

Tactile and sensuous, you have a nose for personal comfort and physical pleasure. You are nevertheless quite pragmatic, with a good appreciation for the financial values as well as any aesthetic qualities. Taurus loves nature and natural things, but due to a fondness for comfort and ease, the Bull can be quite lazy.

To preserve your health, you need to take some regular exercise and control that tendency to overindulge in rich foods and the other pleasures in life.

Taureans are very strong-willed and often quite creative. The Moon is exalted in Taurus, giving success with matters to do with the public and, combined with the influence of Venus, a passionate nature endowed with a strong sense of loyalty and fidelity. You are kind and generous with friends, with whom you develop an unspoken rapport.

Love of Music Taurus rules the throat, giving a powerful, often beautiful voice. The influence of Venus opens up a world of musical talent and appreciation, so Taureans are good singers and musicians, or at least, love music and can be a force on the business side of music. You also like to potter around the garden, and delight in other outdoor activities: picnics, hikes, trips to botanical gardens or the zoo.

You tend to be rather subdued, but you have a fine sense of humour, and enjoy your social life. Strong and Solid Hunky Taurus is physically strong and solidly built. Many of you favour weight lifting or other body-building routines to keep in shape and you enjoy sports requiring strength and endurance.

Health issues are often focused on problems to do with the throat and neck, or by polarity with the reproductive organs, the kidneys and so on. Taurus is naturally lazy and tends to overindulge, so a good approach to health and wellbeing would include a well-planned regime of disciplined exercise and diet.

Taurus colours are brown, russet, and turquoise. The beautiful emerald, a rare variety of the mineral beryl and as costly as a diamond, is your birthstone. The emerald's rich green colour is quite appropriate too, since it is the colour of money, lush countryside and relaxation. Geometrically, the emerald takes the shape of a six-sided crystal and six is the number of love. Flowers for Taurus are the red rose, daisy, lily, and daffodil.

Wherenberg's babysitting service...!!!

picard_engage.jpg picard beer me image by siriandchris

Remember when the movies was a  place to lose yourself for a couple of hours...... Forget the world even existed and escape from reality by drifting into the silver screen and interacting with the characters in the movie....... Nowadays it seems that you have to be more aware of what's going on in the seats..... Kids that are dropped off and are more interested in disrupting the audience and looking cool in front of their friends by throwing things at other people in the theatre....... Cell phones have found their way in ..... Now we will have to worry about the occasional drunk which might not mix well with the rowdy kids....... I totally understand that the theatres are strapped for cash and this is the sign of the beginning of the end...... I suppose the good old days of escaping reality at the movies are....

Will all that money stay in the U.S......??

big_1039587.jpg Bailout image by poealyce

I really have no problem with the bailout..... My problem is that a lot of these companies with their hands out have moved a lot of their operations overseas or Canada and Mexico....... Half the time when you call customer service you are talking to someone in India...... Chrysler closed the minivan plant here and moved all the minivans to Canada.... Shouldn't Canada kick in and help with the bailout...... My only point  is that if a company wants the U S to help them in a financial struggle, then shouldn't it be stipulated that employment of these companies remain in America.....

Don't we send enough  money overseas already?

It's a party old folks style....!!

BillyPeek-TheAnswerFront-1.jpg Billy Peek - The Answer image by zotyapapa55

Forget the Hip Hop, Disco, Swing, Country, and Modern Rock and what you have left is some good old fashioned Rock N Roll and Blues........ Add in the pristine setting of the Club Villa and a room full of 30 something to 70 something old hippies and you have encountered a Billy Peek night....... Billy has been in the St. Louis area as long as I can remember and never fails to turn a little magic out of his guitar.....Billy has played with Chuck Berry and Rod Stewart and his style of music is a smooth blend of Classic Rock and Blues.....  The dance floor usually fills up in the middle of the first set and stays full until the end of the night.... No idiots,,,,, Just a lot of great folk...... Going out to see old bands is one of my favorite things to do....... It seems that the volume is lower and the music is better..... Next sunday I plan to attend a benefit and see another band that I have not heard of since the late 70's......... It's a band called Mack's Creek........ If I remember right they played a lot of Southern Blues like the Allman Brothers..... I'll be sure to have camera in hand.......

When's the last time you partied "Old Folks Style"?

There are codes for decks and railing....!!

Girl nearly falls over cliff as video camera rolls

http://www.katu.com/news/34335244.html a>

A cute little girl and a fun family outing almost turns deadly because of railing that wouldn't pass any inspection..... Kids have been falling through deck railing often over time..... There are codes and inspections for these reasons...... The rail on the video clip was not only in violation of the maximum gap allowed but also the minimum height.... If there is a way to get through a child will find it..... If an inspector signed off on that railing I sincerely hope he gets his hands slapped.......

Have you ever been told to redo something by an inspector?

Don't agree with all of this but it's interesting....

Funny_Pictures_1901-1.jpg If You Can Read This image by kenchen11

HOW LONG DO WE HAVE?     This is the most interesting thing I've read in a long time. The sad thing about it, you can see it coming.   I have always heard about this democracy countdown. It is interesting to see it in print. God help us, not that we deserve it. How Long Do We Have? About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the  University  of  Edinburgh  , had this to say about the fall of the  Athenian   Republic  some 2,000 years earlier: 'A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.' 'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.' '>From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.' 'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years' 'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence: 1. from bondage to spiritual faith; 2. from spiritual faith to great courage; 3. from courage to liberty; 4. from liberty to abundance; 5. from abundance to complacency; 6. from complacency to apathy; 7. from apathy to dependence; 8. from dependence back into bondage' Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law,  St. Paul ,   Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000  Presidential election: Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29 Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000 Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1 Professor Olson adds: 'In aggregate, the map of the territory Republicans won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare...' Olson believes the  United States  is now somewhere between the 'complacency and apathy' phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the 'governmental dependency' phase. If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the   USA  in fewer than five years. If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message. If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.
