Republicans Lack Heart!Ann and Nancy Wilson are pissed at the Republican Party and have fired off a cease and desist letter to the McCain/Palin campaign.

Specifically, the Heart women are upset that the GOP has used their classic "Barracuda" as a theme song for Sarah Palin. TMZ obtained a statement from Heart's rep, who says "The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission."

The statement goes on: "We have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music. We hope our wishes will be honored."

We're told Ann was watching TV today and heard the song at the convention when Palin was touted.

UPDATE
: Twenty minutes after we posted this story, the GOP ended the evening after McCain's speech with the song, "Barracuda."

What rock did they crawl out from under to issue this statement? Are the working on a project now or just trying to make sure no one buys or downloads that oldass song?

I just tossed their CD. My wife objected to throwing it up in the air so I could blast it with my 12 gauge.

You should youtube her throwing it and you demolishing it. Then send the video to the Heart site. What a bunch of has-been losers.

I'll be sure to make a comedy video from their lyrics as soon as I am done with my western. I'm serious - don't let me forget.

No kidding. Us youngun's hadn't ever heard that song until Sarah Barracuda started using it. I would buy the song if they weren't such washed up hags about it.

Um, we meet tonight and tomorrow to work out the shoot dates. Either mid October or early November.

I am shooting another comedy skit about a pair of office workers so that would be easy to do on the same day.

Guess they're afraid of appearing to endorse McCain therefore shooting their chances at making more money in the industry, since the industry is more liberal than conservative, so they have to speak up against the campaign for using "their" song. I think Mellencamp did the same thing earlier in the year.

Maybe so, Kicksave. They're washed up and should be happy someone is using their song. They sure don't play it in DFW much at all.
