As a dj,music has been a part of my life since i can remember. I remeber when i was about 3 years old,my mom would play records in a console style record player wich was not very loud. i would hold my ear next to the speaker so that i could hear it louder. I was so thrilled by what i heard, i could sit there for hours!!  does anyone remember where you were or what you were doing when you first noticed music existed in this world?

I grew up on country music but when I really took notice of how it made me feel was when I was about 5 or 6 yrs. old.On the television was a movie my mother was watching and I started hearing this voice and rhythm that I had never heard before. At that young age I could not sit still while hearing it...I had to dance around the living room..there was no controlling myself lol. The man singing was Elvis Presley and I had such a crush on him lol.I luv country, classic rock, some jazz and even reggae.I can hear reggae or calypso and it takes me back to the beaches at Padre Island.Good times!

i know the felling! i also remember dancing to upbeat music. since i;m a little shy around people. i would take a couple of combs and use them as drum sticks and i would play the drum beat of the song on the dinning table. speaking of country i've noticed that country music has become very popular recently.i used to be not so crazy about it, but i've really gotten into it recently. do you agree?

I have always felt I coud relate more to country songs.
Yea I have noticed people you'd think would'nt listen to country are liking it now.Maybe its more progressive now versus the older country sound, I dunno.
Yea I remember singing into my hair brush, that was the best microphone around lol.

I was raised on the pew in the back of the church. Gospel music was the first I have any memory of. Grandma said that if you didn't sing you must have something your afraid of.
She used to say something like: Even if you can't carry a tune in a bucket with a lid on, sing and let the world know your happy. Music has always been a part of my life. Being a '60's DJ was one of the highlights of my young life. I worked at a small station before and after school and on weekends. I've done part-time radio work for years and would love to own my own station some day. Do-Wop and '60's music is still some of my favorites, although I've come to like anything that comes close to SINGING.

I think I've always liked music and the way musci makes me feel...I've had my favorites through the years..could never afford to buy any 45's while growing up but when my older brother bought a "hi-fi' ..I loved listening to his records (he was older and worked)but I think my true appreciation of music came when my youngest daughter pursued music even at a young age..voice lessons..Casa Kids..she is a music major..sings opera...beautiful voice

Hey nice! I am a music lover too, however I enjoy music that alot of people would probably just switch off the radio. Are you familiar with the name DJ IRENE? She's my favorite and I really love that kind of music. It actually and interestingly puts my in a relaxing zone when most people want to go to a club or go nuts with that music on. I don't know if its the continuous beats or a lull in the music but I LOVE IT!!! If I don't have music in the back ground anywhere I go crazy! I don't care what it is, it has to be on. I also enjoy reggaeton, salsa, bachata, marenge, and my favorites of the Spanish music are Vicente Fernandez and MANA! What do you think?

I enjoy several types of music, but my favorite is that of the Texas country music scene. Some are referencing this type of music as Americana music. Some of my favorite artists are Max Stalling, Mark David Manders, and good old Jerry Jeff Walker.

I like bits of most everything. I don't like chaos like in some forms of Jazz or the droning monotony of trance/electornica. Pretty much everything else is open. At that point it comes down to the artist and/or song.

I cycle through what I want to hear at a particular time.

I don't like using labels...some of what is called country today was rock 20-30 years ago.

Thanks for the memory Superman! I have always liked Bob Seeger. Of course there's Stevie Ray Vaughn and his brother Jimmy with the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Love Toby Keith, prince, and old Motown. I really like alot of different genres according to the mood I am in. I draw the line at rap and I don't like Tejano stuff with the oompa-ompa sound, but I like Marc Anthony.

I am into Texas country music...real country music. I have a website that promotes this type of music, so please check it out if you're into this kind of music or if you are wondering what it's about.

WOW! It seems like besides eating and sleeping, music is another part of our life we can't be without. many of you mentioned country. I have met many people who are big fans of country and here is what I have noticed most of the time, they are such nice and emmotional people, in a good way . There is a gener of music for hispanics, to be more specific mexicans that is the equivalent of Country music that is Norteña Music even though there is other latin genres Like Banda,Ranchera, and Cumbia. It is my job to know this as a MUSIC DJ. Here is a trivia question for all of you. Where does the MARIACHI music come from before it ended up as part of the Mexican Culture?
