I've heard enough of the music now these day. It is all starting to sound the same. This is coming from a person who is eclectic although listens to more rap and reggaeton that much anything else. I will brows through stations if something is not on that I like or a commercial is on. All the hip-hop is really starting to sound the same just worse lyrics song by song. It does not help these kids who are growing up now to hear the things that are on there now and the vidoes. The videos is worse than the song. Its no wonder these kids are having babies. If I could meet who started this whole new era of horrible song and dirty dance, I would fill thier hearts with love and kindness and try to make them see that what they are doing is distroying the youth population. Everyone wants to "pack heat" and everyone wants to "holla at a honey" which us adults who are familiar with these comments relates to, "carrying a bullet loaded weapon(of some sort; the bigger, the better)", and "have "relations" with a female be her dunk and not remembering anything or sober and being a victom of a "hit it and quit it" thug whose pants are about to fall off thier hind end." If anyone out there agrees with me, I appreciate the support. If anyone out there disagrees with me, then I hope you see the problems that this world is going to and through right in front of your eyes and quickly realize it. I am not trying to start an argument or make enemies but something has got to change and soon. Its gone from down to Earth music (Simon and Garfunkle and Boyz to Men) to triple X rated material that 5 and 6 year olds are listening to and remembering the lyrics then watching the video and doing the exact same actions. Someone do something!!

You're right on. Music has taken a dive since the infusion of the rap mentality on youth. It has turned the creative juices to anger and resentment, resulting in what you have described in your excellent blog. Of course, this is in line with the breakdown in morality in this country spawned by liberals.

Band: Consolidated
Year: 1991
Album: Friendly Fascism
Song Title: Music has No Meaning

Today in the west, of the many crisis we face, critical is the nature of the culture industry's monopolistic control over our expressive domain. The interest’s that control the state have effectively neutralized any mode of public expression that, in the past, we had found empowering. Along this course the nature of music itself has become twisted, altered, distorted, to suit the needs of capital. If we want music to contain any positive relevance to us again we must take it back until then it ain't jack hit it, THAT music has no meaning... that music has no value... that music has no power... Our tastes have become so standardized and regulated that we no longer make any decisions for ourselves. The culture industry does all this for us and we've become a nation of blindly accepting consumers latching on to meaningless terms like, alternative, progressive, industrial, techno, rap, house - We're promised liberation but all we get is empty distraction, in our society music is just a measure of forced consumption. Until we change the social conditions under which music is made: THAT music has no meaning... that music has no value... that music has no power...

What can we do about it?

In the Nineties as big business and big government realize that they needn’t demonstrate any longer the intimidation and violent suppression of past authoritarian states they prove conclusively that friendly fascism clearly exists in this society and the rulers of corporate America have manufacture

What can we do about it?

In the Nineties as big business and big government realize that they needn’t demonstrate any longer the intimidation and violent suppression of past authoritarian states they prove conclusively that friendly fascism clearly exists in this society and the rulers of corporate America have manufactured within it’s own people an addiction to the pop culture so strong it renders us incapable of any action, as individual or collective citizens, and the real tragedy is that we have no problem with this. Every era has its giant spectacle to keep the people pacified, for us it’s the MTV music awards and the Grammy’s. As Long as we go on passively marching and singing, then we know… THAT music has no meaning... that music has no value... that music has no power... zero… Minus one.
