I was just curious. Is the War still going on in Iraq? I never hear much on the News about the Real Hero’s in the world, our service men and women. I assume that our young Americans are still getting killed and wounded in the Middle East.

Please don’t forget about them giving there lives and limbs as we listen to the News about Tony Romo and his new 67 million dollar contract. I wish we could divide that money between all the families that have lost loved ones, or between the ones that have become disabled due to the wounds they received in the battle field. We Americans have some real messed up priorities.  We treat our convicts in prison better than we treat our Senior Citizens that are barely getting by. We allow entertainers, professional athletes, actors, etc. to be paid these ridiculous salaries just so we can be entertained.

Please remember who the Real Hero’s are. I say again, they are our Service Men and Women around the world who are fighting for our freedoms that we take for granted. They are our Firefighters, Medics, Police Officers, etc. Without them we could not enjoy football, baseball, and many other entertaining things that we American use to distract from the real world problems.

Say a prayer for the Real Hero’s before that next pro football game starts or before that next big box office movie that you sit down to watch. Think about it and never loose sight of what really matters in this world and the next time you meet one of our Real Hero’s give them a pat on the back and thank them. That will make them feel like 67 million; thank God they are not it for the money.

Still curious, how do the rest of you fellow bloggers feel about these messed up priorities in America? Let’s not forget about how much money that these political campaigns cost. It would be nice to divide that money up with the Senior Citizens.

If we choose to say a prayer for them, it will have to be in a dark closet, since government seems determined to banish prayer.

Our messed up priorities are not unexpected and a shame. It's also something else that government can't fix with a tax increase, so I hope they don't try.

The war in Iraq has greatly improved! Listening to our news media, one would never know that. Or mostly likely, the news media DOES know and that's why there is NO news. As with the ABC evening news which said 'no deaths in Iraq today, so there's no Iraq news'. Oh really? Winning isn't news to the left?

God bless our service men.

Good post,Outspoken - You're right about the media's 'Hot News', it's about some loony celeb or sports figure that doesn't have a brain in their head.

I'm so sick of Jerry Jones and Tony Homo, you'd think nothing else matters !

I'm with Chardoney, God Bless Our Service Men & Women !

I keep trying to figure out why we have to have the "celebs" on the news. We have TMZ, Access Hollywood, Extra, etc. for those things. Why do we have to see Britney's butt on the nightly news, too?? And, why do we even care what Romo, or anyone else, makes? I know I don't. Maybe he'll do the right thing and donate some of it to a worthy cause (one can always hope)

Yes, God bless and keep our service men and women. They are our true heroes and they should get the credit and recognition they deserve.

Thank you, Outspoken1, for your comments. I swear you have been reading my mind. Yes, the real heroes are our wonderful military men and women, not Britney Spears, not some sports figure, not some vocalist. I was happy to get the biography channel - until I realized it is apparently only interested in people like Whoopi Goldberg (liberal/anti war),Robert Redford (liberal-anti war),etc., etc. I haven't seen a bio on Ronald Reagan, Harry Truman, General George Patton, Audie Murphy, Margaret Thatcher, or any other real person of substance. A sign of our times. Our downfall began in the '60's with the teeny-boppers (such as Jane Fonda, Hillary and Bill Clinton, Ruth Bader Ginsburg) rebelling against authority, destroying university buildings which were paid for with tax-payer dollars, demanding unearned rights, and generally parading their selfishness and narcisism in public. It apparently was a point of pride to get arrested for disturbing the peace or destruction of property. The public hated this era. The officials either did not know how to handle it or they were too gutless to do so. In those past 50 years our country and our public discourse has slid on a greased pole into degradation which I fear is so deep-seated we may never recover. I agree with every word you wrote, Outspoken. How do I feel about our messed up priorities? I am totally disgusted and angry. I actually get perturbed when an acquaintance buys Streisand's music, and says that she knows Streisand is political and against her views, but that she is buying the music for the music. think Streisand has a great voice and she recorded some good songs, but I will not buy anything with her name on it - I see no reason to help her fight my ideals. I would love to have some of her money to set up groups across the country to work at restoring our ideals that were stolen in the '60's by the liberals, and tarnished by the liberals ever since then. As individuals I do not think we can win, but as groups we might stand a chance. At any rate, keep up the good work, Outspoken. I'm with you!
