I'm curious, what are drivers  thinking when they drive under the speed limit in the left hand lane of traffic on 4 lane highways. You see this more times than not. They hold up traffic and don't have a clue that some us like to drive the speed limit.

This causes traffic backups and road rage. I wish law enforcement would start writing tickets for it, or change the passing lane to the right lane.

Man, I know! I get a rattled nerve when some dude in a lawn service truck and trailer is going 45 on 75 like he owns the highway. Heck, he might just as well own it - what was I thinking?

I guess what I would really like to see scotty is more drivers showing common courtesy towards each other. It would make these crowded highways so much safer.

I understand, outspoken1. It just seems that people are generally in a hurry to get wherever they're going and do it by any means necessary!

You are assuming that these people driving 45 in the left lane care about other people.

I want to yell "la migra!" so bad when I'm beind an old junker full of men driving 20mph and signaling 4 blocks in advance to avoid getting pulled over.

Just a thought.

In some places, signs are posted that left lane is for passing only. But change the passing lane to the right lane? Not sure how that would work.

What I would really like to see is drivers that are paying attention to their surroundings. Not just what is in front of them. Safe driving requires paying attention to the front, rear and sides of the vehicle.

Too many distractions are going on in vehicles these days. Cell phones, text messaging, I-Pods, GPS, Putting on makeup, conversations in the car, eating, etc.

Bad things can happen real quick when cars and trucks are running 10 miles over the speed limt bumper to bumper and not paying attention.

They should have left earlier if they wanted to get somewhere imoportant. If I'm running late, yeah I'll speed. I'll admit it, but I don't ride BLEEP and piss other people off. If I don't want that done to me, then I won't do that to other people. I like the "hammer lane". (far left lane, next to hov) I take that lane because it goes faster... most of the time. I agree with ya'll!

Q: What are they thinking?
A: They aren't thinking.

Amen! Something we can all agree on. I did however run across a blog on CL where there were people actually proud of the fact they were keeping everyone else going slow, and they vowed to continue to drive slow in the passing lane. Idiots!

I'm not into violence myself, but that is a good way to get shot now days. Hardly a day goes by that you don't see a road rage incedent on the news.

I do my best to treat other motorist the way I want to be treated. But it does seem that a few drivers are out on the road just to jack with people.

OMG no really. Oh golly gee. Why not just go tell them to speed up. This traffic on the roadways will never change. It will here today and it will be here tomorrow. The price of fuel will get higher and higher. Where only the rich and famouse will be driving the rest of us will be on horses

Ha ha ha!, just another form of being a Texas Yahoo my friend. I'll tell you what they are thinking since it is a really an unusual way of doing it. These people are called "lane squatters". They feel that they have just as much of a right to travel in the hammer lane as anyone else. They do not know what a hammer lane is or what it is used for (To drive nails?). They feel safer over there in the hammer lane because they don't have to worry about on comers swinging around them in front and off goers skimming their rear bumper. They also do not want to have to deal with non signaling lane servers’ on all four sides when they are traveling in the J.V. or sophomore lanes when on the highway. So you see, they feel that they are being safer driver's by traveling the speed limit (or less) way over there in the left (hammer) lane. They think they are being good citizens and doing you a favor.
