I was channel surfing this morning and caught the tail end of Meet The Press. They were talking about Obama going back on his word to the American people. Shortly after that, the show was over.

I later tuned in on Fox 4 News and couldn't find any information about it. I'm guessing I must have been mistaken. I know Fox 4 News would not intentionally leave out a story like this, even if it is Obama.

Did anyone else hear about this?

Obama told supporters in an e-mail message Thursday that he would not accept about $85 million in public funds when he becomes the Democratic presidential nominee.
In the e-mail, Obama said the public campaign financing system allowed "special interests [to] drown out the voices of the American people" and asked his supporters to "declare our independence from a broken system."
McCain said that Osama’s move to drop out of the system "should be disturbing to all Americans" and that he may decide to opt out, too. But here is the thing Obama is running his campaign from the donations that he is getting from the people. Which will allow him to raise more the $84 and campion in 50 states? If he took the $85mil he would be limited to just that money. McCain is pissed because Obama has the cash on hand to do what he wants. Earlier Obama said I will campaign in 50 states. McCain laughed at him because no one has every done that. He know that if Obama took the $85 that he would not beadle to campaign in all 50

The going back on his word was because Obama once said just the opposite of what he says now. Then he said that it was the private funding that was evil and he would use public. But after he seen that he could get more from private,he changed his mind and public funds became evil.

The word like Tar baby or BLEEP should never come from the mouth of a man who wants to be the leader of the free world. You ask any black between the ages of 50 to 90 what Tar baby means and they will tell you it is what slave master called the slaves. Let’s stop dismissing the things like this. Just like they said the it was a racial slur when that pastor said the Hillary felt entitled. It was an INAPPROPRIATE statement period! And the fact that he felt comfortable saying it specks to his charter. We need a president who will not have racial slips.

by the way - nice cut-n-paste job formerGOP. Tarbaby refers to Br'er rabbit's entanglement see actual definition.

Stop focusing on race people. At least McCain doesn't MEAN to use words that could possibly be interpreted as racist by someone.

Obama's been buddies with racists for at least 20 years...

the original intent with the public funds i thought was to create a level playing field for the presdential candidates , what Obama says, to me, is that he's afraid He won't be able to win without a lot more money , so doesn't want the limits , the campaign financing has created some interesting elections, I think it should be observed

TexanInfidel
thank you.
I believe in getting the story right and if it means cutting and paste then that will happen, at least you know that I did not make it up off the top of my head like a lot of people seem to be doing on this blog.
As for Tar baby not being a racial slur. I’m white and I know that it is why are you acting like it is not. If the is the first thing that comes to his mind then we need someone who can think quicker on there feet. Not to mention that McCain come for a time where
Ta r baby meant Blacks, Skin color from the "Uncle Remus" (Br'er Rabbit) story.

It makes me mad as ____ when I see how much money changes hands on these ____ elections!

All this money could feed a lot of elderly people on fixed incomes. Our leaders take better care of prisoners than they do the elderly.
