The story begins at Michigan State University with a mechanical engineering professor named Indrek Wichman. Wichman sent an e-mail to the Muslim Student's Association. The e-mail was in response to the students' protest of the Danish cartoons that portrayed the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist. The group had complained the cartoons were 'hate speech.' Enter Professor Wichman. In his e-mail, he said the following:

Dear Moslem Association: As a professor of Mechanical Engineering here at MSU I intend to protest your protest. I am offended not by cartoons, but by more mundane things like beheadings of civilians, cowardly attacks on public buildings, suicide murders, murders of Catholic priests (the latest in Turkey ), burnings of Christian churches, the continued persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt , the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims, the rapes of Scandinavian girls and women (called 'whores' in your culture), the murder of film directors in Holland, and the rioting and looting in Paris France. This is what offends me, a soft-spoken person and academic, and many, many of my colleagues. I counsel you dissatisfied, aggressive, brutal, and uncivilized slave-trading Moslems to be very aware of this as you proceed with your infantile 'protests.' If you do not like the values of the West - see the 1st Amendment - you are free to leave. I hope for God's sake that most of you choose that option Please return to your ancestral homelands and build them up yourselves instead of troubling Americans.

Cordially,
S. Wichman
Professor of Mechanical Engineering

As you can imagine, the Muslim group at the university didn't like this too well. They're demanding that Wichman be reprimanded and the university impose mandatory diversity training for faculty and mandate a seminar on hate and discrimination for all freshmen. Now the local chapter of CAIR has jumped into the fray. CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, apparently doesn't believe that the good professor had the right to express his opinion. For its part, the university is standing its ground in support of Professor Wichman , saying the e-mail was private, and they don't intend to publicly condemn his remarks.
Way to go Michigan State!!!

Bravo MSU!!!
I wish I could say I am an alum but I went to EMU...
I am proud of the prof for writing the email and MSU for supporting him... I wish more people had the guts to speak out... and more businesses/ politcal groups had the testicular fortitude to back those that speak out.

lol gyro wow, what a statement! bravo!!!

chemist: i like your "testicular fortitude" reference.

i have said it many times: a person who would like to emigrate from another country is welcome in my book. if they do it right of course. but, if they don't like it here, they are more than welcome to go back where they came from.

Conservative Muslims believe they have the right to force their silly superstitious beliefs onto normal people- just like Conservative Christians.

Fanatical Muslims justify their immoral policies with religion and the ridiculous belief in the supernatural- Fanatical Christians use the Congress and the Presidency to launch preemptive wars against fanatical Muslims- innocent and normal people are killed in the process and fighting between these two backwards and Fascist belief systems.

Muslims should stop being Muslims, they should stop going to mosques, they should stop believing in God, Angels, Demons and other silly beliefs.

Christians should stop being Christians, they should stop going to church, they should stop believing in God, Angels, Demons and other nonsense.

Gorebash, welcome back.....
But really...don't radical Islamic groups concern you a little bit more the a Baptist Minister preaching a sermon on a Sunday morning???
I have yet to hear a Christian minister preach a violent death to all that disagree with their beliefs?

They are really almost one in the same. The Conservative Muslims want to kill us, but look at the Conservative Christians. They BOTH preach that THEIR God is "the one true God" and everyone must follow THEIR beliefs. BOTH groups use religious doctrine to control their citizens, including personal private things like sex.

I promise I wont call you late to dinner, lol.

Wow I seem to remember our Pastor preaching about forgiveness turn the other cheek. Never was I taught to force my beliefs on another. Of course the church I visit sometimes(yes I said sometimes for a reason) is a pretty laid back church. Lets see I smoke, drink, swear, had sex out of wedlock, divorced and refuse to remarry, but lived with the same man for over 19 years now and well frankly I can walk in that church and be welcomed with open arms and I dont hide my life I have nothing to be ashamed of.

One true God nope wasnt taught that either, I was taught that there are many different types of beliefs and we have free will to choose what we believe.

So lets see will I continue to believe in God of course I will and why is that? Because its my CHOICE! Just as MSU and the professor had a CHOICE!

cat, one thing you will find is that gorby and PB, although nie, smart and funny guys, they don't REALLY understand anything about christianity.

guys, we christians DO share the news of the bible, we DO share our testimonies, etc etc. but it's not after mass conversion, it's sharing news. also, as cat said, i don't EVER remember ANY preacher preaching "kill the infidels", etc etc. and religious doctrine doesn't "control" any of us.........we read the bible and try to follow God's word as best possible........but, we are ALL human, thus we ALL fall short of the glory of God.

That is how God made us..........

Regularly Southern Baptist preachers preach to their "sheep" (Americans should have too much pride to be called sheep) and tell them lies about science- like Andre Bernier and Global Warming and Evolution and other important issues of the day- such as Embyronic Stem Cell Research which could save lives but Christian Conservatives stubbornly refuse to support.

Southern Baptist and other Conservative Christians are against treating gay people equally under the law and will not allow them to have full and equal marriage rights. They want to outlaw gay people from being teachers and adopting chidlren.

In Islamic countries, gay people are stoned to death, put in prison, or if they are lucky hide in fear and are shunned by the rest of society.- Its a matter of degrees. Obviously Muslim Conservatives are much worse than Christian Conservatives (right now, but wait and see if they get too much power).

Islamic Conservatives want to enforce Sharia law on people who aren't Muslims or don't believe in their evil doctrine. Christian Conservatives want to control the governemnt and force children to read and believe in the nonsense of the Bible. Again, its a matter of degrees, but the general style is very similar.

"But really...don't radical Islamic groups concern you a little bit more the a Baptist Minister preaching a sermon on a Sunday morning???
I have yet to hear a Christian minister preach a violent death to all that disagree with their beliefs?"

Baptist Ministers are now running for President (Huckabee) that means they will have the ability to kill every human being on planet Earth with Nuclear Weapons- Christian Conservatives already have this ability, Muslims don't yet have this ability. In the end these two bizarre religious groups could end up killing all life on Planet Earth. All for fighting over Fairy Tales and Make Believe.

Christian Conservatives regularly preach violence against gay people and abortion rights activists and doctors who perform abortions. They do it with veiled threats and metaphors (coded and hidden messages) in their sermons on Sunday by choosing passages from their religious books to condemn political groups and people they disagree with.

In fact, hundreds of Christian Conservatives have been arrested and convicted of terrorism against Abortion Clinics and Gay bars and Gay pride parades. Christian Conservatives are often the ones who beat and assault innocent gay people because they believe that their silly supersititions give them that right.

wow gorby, again with the generalizations. not fair.

i'm not even going to start this debate with you again. just try and remember that RWCCR (right wind christian conservative republican) are NOT all alike.

and honestly, until you actually UNDERSTAND what christianity is all about, oh never mind.......

I understand that it teaches people that a book written 2000 years ago by desert nomads and sheep herders is somehow an authority on our modern and daily lives. It tells people falsly that the Earth is 6000 years old, a laughable claim.

I understand that this book of mythology and fiction is believed by many to be somehow "better" or more true than science and scientific discoveries and the scientific method.

Imagine a world where religion causes people to deny Evolution, the age of the Earth (its 4.5-4.6 Billion years old). That world was created by religions like Christianity and Islam. It causes people to become unable to distinguish fantasy from reality.

dprin right until they understand it they wont get it.

Well I will agree on the abortion clinics, all of that has been taken too far, you cant kill while protesting killing. I have never once went to a abortion protest I believe it is a CHOICE(I have a feeling thats going to come back and bite me in the butt)Its not something I have done nor its it something I would do. But like I said before free will. As for gays one of my best friends is gay and he is the greatest. I have no issues with gays again its called free will. Anyway thats all Im getting into about all of this I could be here for a lifetime on this one, lol.
