While I was driving home from the gym yesterday I was thinking about a news report that just came out that said: “You can look great in a swimsuit and still be a heart attack waiting to happen. And you can also be overweight and otherwise healthy.”  It was a new study that said a surprising number of overweight people — about half — have normal blood pressure and cholesterol levels, while an equally startling number of trim people suffer from some of the ills associated with obesity.

Is it all worth it?

So I’m thinking, why not just buy some warm-up suits and give up?  Eat what I want when I want to, and enjoy life?  But most of the time, I feel a lot better about myself when I do work out, and use a little discipline at the dinner table, even if the results never show.

Rick- You stumbled through a story this morning about some cops punching a robbery suspect, and said the video was disturbing.

What you didn't say was how disturbing it was that the suspect was resisting arrest. Immediately prior to the officer punching him, you could see him struggling and trying to pull away from the officer.

Let alone being disturbed by another punk robbing someone else at gunpoint.

Perhaps the officers stepped over the line, but you know what? I feel no sympathy for a punk like this guy. The bleeding, heart liberal courts are too lenient on these criminals. They rob, steal, etc at a whim, and everyone else pays the price.

I also understand that this punk spit on the officer who then subdued him. This puck was resisting as per the video and was trying to escape. Police officers put their lives on the line everyday for us and your story this morning was a disservice to that effort. You were wrong and you should apologize!

A surprising number of overweight people — about half —
have normal blood pressure and cholesterol levels...
but the hidden question is .....what about their other half?

The startling number of trim people suffer the ills associated
with obesity simply goes to show ..... skinnier people can think "FAT" too.

So statistically, a person should buy warm-up suits, especially if they're cold.

Why not enjoy life?

Feel better about yourself and do work out and use 'utensils' at the dinner table.

It ALL Helps!

AND as far as Police Brutality or Sneaky Punk Thieves go

...... that's part of the very same Human Problems!!!

It's all based within our DNA! SmileyCentral.com

Glad you're back, Rick.

yes blame the DNA for everything that's easy.
In this world there have been only 2 kinds of people : the Cains and the Abels, the Ismaels and the Isaacs and history repeats itself continuously we haven't learned anything or maybe we did afterall : we now have the capacity to destroy the world almost 90 times. We got rid of the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. rn4dstork (Rivka)

Rick, I use to think that hereditary was a bunch of bull. Not any more. 13 years ago I had my first heart attack at 52. I weighed about 150 lbs. then, now I am 223. The end result from smoking and drinking my self to the hilt. In December of 07 I was diagnosed with diabetes. Is this all hereditary? My dad, his three brothers and sister all died at less than 67 years of age. That is not old. They all encountered the same problems. Mostly from eating to much of the good Italian food. Part of my heritage.

Yes, take care of your self and enjoy life, for your family will want you to be around a while longer.

I now go for Cardio Rehab at JCL three times a week for 36 visits. All covered by my insurance. I also walk most every where I go and do it in the early a.m. hours when it is cooler. I also go to the YMCA for about 1/2 hr. or more for a strong cardio work out.

Yes, it is worth it to do that which is right for your body. If you don't think so, ask your wife and children and see what they have to say about it. If not for them, then do it for yourself.

HAPPY LIVING, HAPPY WORKOUT.

BTW Rick, A friend told me many years ago if I didn't stop eating so much I would fork my self to death. I came pretty close to that, always eating and the wrong foods.

I think the point of the report is, "You can't judge a book by it's cover". I know a woman that looks to be in pretty good health - looks wise. But she had a heart attack in her mid 40's. On the other side of the coin, my dad never went to doctors, never got any exercise after the age of about 55 whe he retired. He was a total couch potato. All he did was watch TV all day. He had been overweight most of his life. He looked old and way out of shape. He died at the age of 80 - on his first heart attack. Looks can be deceiving.
If you have heart disease, or other serious health issues that run in your family, take special care of yourself in that department. And just because you see someone that is fat and out of shape, it doesn't mean they have a bad ticker. And just because you see a slim muscular person jogging, it doesn't mean they have a good ticker. It means he is helping to improve what God gave him.

Rick, this is off of the subject. I got the same e-mail from BofA. I tried to forward it to the abuse@bankofamerica.com it would not let me. I noticed that in the e-mail it stated not to reply to this e-mail. I get three and four of these types of phising during the course of a month or less from the same bank. I just recently rec'd one from Wachovia, I also get them from Wellsfargo. I get the most from BofA. Highlight only, right click on the mouse, block sender, yes and delete. BAH HUM BUG ! ! !

some kind of genetic disorder inheritence you had came acorss pondering this problem had came accross with many people. The saddest thing about this epidemic is that of the mass numbers affiliated with the statistics. As we speak their are scientist's studying this and are in attempts of developeing a drug to reduce the fattening problem. Some of them say it's bactera in the stomach but could be much more, somewhere in the gene pool of a mutation?.

The fattening problem is the food we buy with all the garbage in it.

We don't pay any attention as to how much we eat and what we eat.

This can all be avoided in todays life style. Just simply think before you do. Education is the most important part. Learning and passing it on to others and of course if you have family, it should start there.
