There have been 11 United States Senators indicted in the history of the Republic, and nine of them have been republicans.......the latest....."Uncle Ted" Stevens.......the professed KING OF PORK.....republican senator from alaska since 1968.....he has been charged with SEVEN FELONIES involving extensive home remodeling , furniture and accepting a land rover....i guess republicans dont drive jeeps.....all of this was accepted from VECO corp......you guessed it folks...a big player in the alaskan oil industry...is it little wonder our president keeps demanding that the alaskan fields be opened up...laura must want to redecorate crawford when she gets home....and its so much easier when you have big oil footing the bill and the american people suffering under 4 dollar gasoline.....stevens will go down in history with fellow republicans randy cunningham, tom foley, larry craig, tom delay, and bob nye.....maybe they can arrange for nye and stevens to be cellmates.....but this cesspool of corruption has a happy ending folks....mr. stevens is up for reelection this november.....if the party of the rich keeps up with this sort of selfinterested morality....we ll be looking at a veto proof senate....the author of the infamous bridge to nowhere just may lead america into the 21st century.....from a jail cell.....vote this november....and end the corruption....a new broom sweeps clean

W’ – “is it little wonder our president keeps demanding that the alaskan fields be opened up...laura must want to redecorate crawford when she gets home....and its so much easier when you have big oil footing the bill and the american people suffering under 4 dollar gasoline”

In America our economic system is known as capitalism. In this system prices are driven by what is known as supply and demand. For an example, W’, let’s say that beer had a limited supply and demand was low. To sell the beer the manufacturer would sell their producet at a low price to move it off the shelf. But suppose their beer was opened to the drinking market in China and India. If supply was limited because of all the new customers, the manufacutrer could charge a higher price because demand would exceed supply. But if the beer manufacturer opened up new breweries and doubled their production so supply matched demand, the price would come down.

Now, replace beer in our example with oil. The process will work the same. So those who refuse to drill for more oil (supply) are saying that they WANT Americans to pay more for oil (demand). Notably because they don’t understand our economic system any more than you.

lol....so if the price of a gallon of gas has increased 350 percent since georgew took office yer telling me that this was caused by demand?.....lol....blaming it on clinton would sound more logical

and lets not forget the president continued to purchase 70,000 barrels a day and stored it....now that didnt effect the price of a gallon of gas...now did it hybrid....

You may not have read this in the Plain Dealer:

"Warning on Impact of China and India Oil Demand
"

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/07/business/07cnd-energy
.html

here is another one:

-in-India-China.html

I cannot help that you do not understand our economic system, but at least I tried to explain it. I tried harder than anyone else and I may have failed, but at least I tried.

W’ – “the professed KING OF PORK”

Just so I am clear, you are not offended by his talking your tax dollars for a bridge to no where, just talking money from big oil.

i guess i ll say it slower this time....republican pork....borrow and spend...republican pork...he was the king...thats what offends me...because im a real conservative...i believe we should pay for what we demand from our government...not charge it to our grandchildren....the last conservative we had in office paid down 350 billion of the national debt...bill clinton...conservatives pay their own way...and dont beg a free lunch and a free war...how are republicans different than welfare bums...they just dress better...and dont want to work for what they are given...just charge it to my grandkids...to the tune of over a half trillion dollars next year

W’ – “republican pork....borrow and spend...republican pork...he was the king...[that’s] what offends me...”

It was that tangent on George and Laura that threw me off. Sorry.

So then you are ok with Robert Byrd’s (D) earmarks. I think he has everything but three schools, one airport and a whore house named after him in W. Virgina.

http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/0815/p01s04-uspo.html

And you are ok with John Murtha’s (D) pork grabbing.

http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/murtha-nabs-150m-po
rk-2007-08-03.html

But Republican pork is a no-no. Gotchya.

I still like your suggestion that what one administration (Congress term) buys must be paid for before they leave office. That would keep them honest.

Please tell me you are joking! PLEASE!!

You're trying to bring up and blame Democrats for this? This story is all about Republicans.

Just like it is the fault of oil lobby and oil speculators that prices are high, not the fault of Democrats who want alternative fuels.

I heard that Senator Reid has offered Ted Stevens a place in the Democrat party and what they called “the full William Jefferson Treatment” if he would change his position on drilling and global warming and allow him to build a motel on prime real estate in Alaska.

Stevens representatives report that the Senator is considering his options.

BTW – The Plain Dealer is as good a paper as the NYT. I was painting this weekend, and the two papers sopped up paint with equal absorbency.
