I'm certain that anyone who has ever read one of my blogs realizes that i give little care for someone who supports a war only with his mouth.....and i think ive come up with a true test of patriotism.....our war in iraq is expected to cost us 200 billion dollars next year....and what id like to do is spread the sacrifice.....why should 150,000 of americas finest pay the only price for this war......rather than follow the bush policies of borrowing our way to victory at the cost of our grandchildren's future....the war will be paid for by a special WAR TAX.....to be divided equally amongst every man woman and child in america....and it would be collected annually on october 15.....wartax day......this years share would be 670 dollars per person....so a family of four would pay 2680 dollars in war taxes......for this year...and then as veterans returned and used their benefits that amount would be placed on the annual war tax from now until the last vet passes......im certain the hybrids and supers of the world would think twice before supporting the policies of the current administration if they were paying the bills.....instead of passing it on to the unborn....thats the real test of patriotism...not the cowards way

ah gamer, ignore the little twit........i would gladly pay it as well.

but we really don't have to..........we must trim the already existing budget, just like a household or company would to afford something NOT accounted for in the budget.

let's see........how about remove the TRILLIONS of dollars spent on ILLEGAL ALIENS.......and then, if that doesn't free up enough cash, then clean up the welfare system by rooting out the SCRAPERS..........

i'm sure just those two simple things would save us enough money to pay for the war in iraq for 100 years!

How about our government quit sending billions to other countries when we need that money here? I mean, half of these nations receiving our money don't even like us, so why send it out? @$$ kissing, maybe?

BUT - why can't the government pay for this war out of the money and benefits they continually screw the military members out of? My husband is proof positive that it doesn't matter how many years you spend in the military, if the government finds a way to jerk you out of what is duly yours, they will and pocket those funds. EXAMPLE: Husband is due to retire in December and unfortunately gets cancer while processing his retirement. Well, guess what? The military has tossed him out on his butt like a piece of trash and are now using this as an excuse to screw him out of his retirement benefits. Why? So they can "save" a little moola! This is how our government and the military treat these honorable military members - especially those who have 20 plus years under their belts!

I also agree with dprin (as usual) on her other points.

This really isn't a bad idea. Since so many in this country like to support politicians who support this war, it's about time they have to do something to sacrifice as well.

I guarantee if this was proposed the current numbers of 70% of people opposed to the war would grow greatly. Just out od selfishness of not wanting to pay the tax.

I would support this. Anything to help our bravest men and women. I'd ratehr give the $670 to them than to the corrupt government.

Let me know if your interested for I refuse to pry personal info online without your concent. However, I am positive you will have no worries about the retirement and It will not be lost if you are interested. Clevebtch, Has your husband gone through a Medical board hearing yet? this is mandatory if your husband request one. If not, He must get one before he files any discharge paperwork so it can be documented on his DD-214. Also, has he taken his TAPS class yet? non of these are going to effect Plan B that will gurantee his retirment, However it could move things along a little faster knowing exactly where he is and has done in the retirement process thus far. still no worries, no matter where he is in the process or how far in the process, he will get his retirement!

I am honored that you mentioned me in your blog, Why not add one more tax, I can afford 1340 per year, I don't understand how it would or would not make someone a coward.
I had to look up US population and it is nearing 300 million, so the amount would work assuming everyone could pay, so I say lets take it a step further for those who can't pay and are able to work should be rounded up and made to join the military.
I would also like to add one more condition, anybody that has already served in the military shouldn't have to pay, they already payed their dues.

dprin - you can reach me at fox8trotter@gmail.com and we can further discuss it there.

gangster - I do know that for my husband to go in front of the medical board, he would have to travel to Texas. Something that we don't have the funds for, and my husband is unable to travel at this time during treatment. As far as TAPS, I'm not sure and would have to ask.

They are, however, removing benefits into which he has paid for over 20 years because of this. Benefits that he's duly authorized to get otherwise, but because THEY chose this situation, THEY are taking them away.

did they change the retirement requirements cleve? it always used to be 20 years for 50 percent...and it was contractual

ricky - as far as I know, they have not changed anything. However, with our current politics and the c r a p going on in this world, who knows? I just know that my husband was months shy of retirement when his cancer was discovered and even though he has full permission from his civilian doctor to participate, the base is denying his completion as they say he's a "liability." My husband can't even collect on a life insurance policy into which he paid for 20 years because of this, now.

W’ – In principle I can appreciate your new “Pay for the war policy” but you need to exempt those households who have immediate family in the military.

“im certain the hybrids and supers of the world would think twice before supporting the policies of the current administration if they were paying the bills”

Sure you are, since you attribute a stereotype to us. Your prattling on shows that you are unable to understand that we recognize America has an enemy who is serious about our demise. You live in a fantasy world that believes Bush is our enemy. And I would guess that if your family or your property was damaged by an Arab Jihadist attack, you would be the first to cry “Bush isn’t doing enough to protect us.”

“anyone who couldnt pay would have their assets seized and auctioned”

See, the difference between Liberals and Conservatives is that Liberals want to force their ideas upon free people, and Conservatives do not. That is why Liberals seek to control the Supreme Court, so they can legislate from the bench the laws free Americans reject every election cycle.

the difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals believe in all of the first ten amendments...conservatives believe in one of them...and seizing the assets of people who dont pay taxes is a standard practice of the irs...nothing new...nothing radical or revolutionary there...as far as bush being the enemy....you couldnt be further from the truth...ask any democrat who is the best republican president in history.....hes our greatest asset as november approaches

W' - "the difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals believe in all of the first ten amendments..."

You didn't hear about the Liberals on the current Supreme Court ruling against the Second Amendment then did you.

All that schooling gone to waste.

Clevebch, Are you living close to Texas or something? The primary and largest med board is Bethesda Maryland. In addition even if you do have to go to Texas for some ungodly reasons go! The military pays for it, they have too if they want to discharge him due to an illness and do not allow anyone to tell you any different! If they do, get the name of that or those individuals and get to legal aid as fast as you can and contact your local congressional office and senators offices. Complain demanding a senatorial & congressional inquiry as to why your rights have been violated!
