Is John Edwards for real?  His wife is fighting cancer, he's just been accused of having an affair and lying about it, and his response is to release a statement that he doesn't respond to lies?  That it's all tabloid trash?  He thinks that will make it go away?

Listen, John Edwards was one of the major candidates for President this year.  Four years ago, he was the Vice-Presidential nominee.  He has spent most of his life developing his reputation.  Think about it.  Isn't that more important than almost anything to him?  I would think so.  So, shouldn't he be absolutely OUTRAGED that the National Enquirer is reporting that he has a mistress and a child with that mistress?  To dismiss this with a brief statement, to pretend that most everyone in the country hasn't already heard about it, doesn't make sense.

Here's what he should do (at least if he is innocent.)  He should file a Billion dollar lawsuit against the Enquirer.  He should then go under oath, and prove all the reporters who were waiting for him in the basement of that hotel (why not just walk in and out of the lobby if you're not trying to hide anything?) made everything up.  Because someone is lying here.  If it's the reporters for the Enquirer, the tabloid should be forced to pay so much they might as well go out of business.  But if it's John Edwards, he should be called out for being a man who cheats on his wife while she fights cancer, and then lies to all of us about it.

If you were innocent of such sleazy charges wouldn't you file a HUGE lawsuit?  Anything short of that makes John Edwards defense not too believable.

He's a Democrat, a lawyer, and a politician. Why would we not think he's a liar as well, actually a professional liar. Ron I think you also mentioned a dna test, that would definitely get to the truth, at least as to whether he has a kid by his mistress. He'd really have to do some monumental squirming to try to get out of that....just think, then the mistress could sue this rich S.O.B. for child support.
Now that would be justice!

At least he supposedly banged a person of the opposite sex unlike Republicans.

Its not about the "banging" as you so intelligently stated, it's about the lies and the attempt to cover it up. Seems there are politicians on both sides that are capable of that.

Isn't this the same Edwards who made his money as a scheming lawyer? He can't admit anything! Nor can he bring suit because that would make him liable (for the truth). His ONLY option is to say it's all a lie. Besides, he can't be impeached, it's not like he's the president of any country!

ummmmmmm WHO CARES? All I need to know is that if he did produce a child then he need to support that child, the rest is irrelevant and between him and his wife.

native--it goes to his character, in his position as a politician he should be of good moral character.....course so should the rest of our government. But he's got a lot of 'splaining to do!

I will just never undestand men. Why is it most men cant keep it in their pants? Is the kitty really worth losing everything?!?! Is it just an uncontrolable urge? Is it a reflex?? How can men and women be SO different?

I really feel for his wife. Polititian or not, she is human, a human fighting for her life, raising her kids, supporting her very public husband, and this is how he repays her? I hope he believes in Heaven, cuz he sure aint goin!!!

GGGGGgggggrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

Remember folks, he is assumed innocent until proven guilty. The only paper that is less reliable than the National Enquirer is the AZ Republic. So it might be a lie.
He should go on Maury Povich and have a paternity test. In any event, I think Barrack Obama will scratch him off of his VP short list.

Barryk: When did sex have anything to do with intelligence? It's the other head that thinks at a time like that. When anyone has sex in this vein it is all about the banging. I'm guessing here, but if it's true then it sure as hell wasn't love. So he wasn't making love he was BANGING. Intellect once again is not high on the list when one is in the thralls of BANGIN. And you are right it happens to both parties. The difference is the Dems prefer the opposite sex more often then the Repubs.

RDJVZ, you are disgusting, as always.

I feel bad for Edwards wife. She has got to be hurting something awful right now. Any woman (or man) would be to hear that their spouse had been cheating. But to have it on the national news.... whew!

Say what you want about the NI, they are no dummies. They filed a criminal lawsuit against hotel security at the Beverly Hilton. This makes John Edwards a witness to a crime. This is too funny.

The LA times along with every other news outlet is gagging the story to protect JohnBoy. But that's okay I guess, more money for the NI. Just because they're predators doesn't mean they are always wrong. LOL. If the media weren't so "partisan" about their objectivity when it comes to news coverage, this wouldn't be half the circus it's going to turn into. Now every blog site and every blogger gets all this internet traffic for themselves. How will John every pay the networks back?

No Sheila. I'm telling it like it is. If you're too prudish to handle it I suggest you don't read it. And I wasn't responding to you in the first place. This reminds me of a lyric in a song. Spit it out if you don't like it.

News of an affair and love child is not going to hurt Edwards. His goose was cooked with the news of the $400 hair cuts. It pointed out the difference between the haves and the have nots (voters). He should have stuck to jeans and a plaid shirt. His family will be the ones hurt by this news.

He might as well go buy his red Corvette too.

Possibly for the same reason that some women can't keep their legs together, yeah think?

Ask RDJVZ, he apparently is well versed in the areas of 'blame and discontent'!

I find it all kinda boring actually. Seems like politics as usual. A politician with skeletons in his closet, go figure. Find me one who doesn't....These guys are all the same, regardless of which side they come from. Are they really so arrogant that they feel they can't get caught?
