Traffic Rules (?)

     Have you ever noticed that when it comes to traffic in the Metroplex most drivers drive without any common sense?  Signs posted that state, "Left lane ends"; "merge right" are there ONLY for the other driver.  These signs never are meant for them.   

     It's the idiots that drive up to the end of the line that cause most of the traffic tie ups.  When they have to stop and force their way into the lane of traffic which is moving, it only causes delays.  If, just once, all drivers would drive with courtesy we wouldn't see near as many traffic jams.  I would be willing to bet my small check against their big check that traffic would flow much better if they would go ahead and move over when they first notice the signs.....then the traffic could continue at 50 or 60 or 70 mph.   Of course this is never going to happen because most of them are too dang busy talking on their cell phones and refuse to pay attention.   No wonder we have some of the highest vehicle insurance rates in the nation.

It is the "me firster" attitude..I am more important than you..I am busier than you...I am entitled..I make more money than you..I drive a nicer car than you.....I drive a bigger car/truck than you and I JUST DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU!!!! Those rules...warnings or signs do not concern ME..just move over and let me in!!!!

YOU WILL NOT SEE ME LETTING ANY OF THESE JERKS IN AHEAD OF ME. THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING...THEY MAKE THEIR BED & THEY CAN SLEEP IN IT. IN THE COLONY, THE TRAFFIC OFFICERS JUST SIT ON WEST/SOUTH 121 BETWEEN MORNINGSTAR & PAIGE RD/PLANO PARKWAY & WRITE WARNING AFTER WARNING, TICKET AFTER TICKET TO DRIVERS WHO JUMP INTO THE CLOSED LEFT HAND LANE TO GET AOUND THOSE FOLLOWING THE RULES/LAW WHO WAIT TO MOVE OVER INTO THE LEFT HAND LANE AT THE LEGAL ENTRY POINT USUALLY AT THE RISK OF BEING REAR ENDED BY THESE BOZOS WHO COMES ILLEGALLY FLYING DOWN THE CLOSED LEFT HAND LANE BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO IMPORTANT TO OBEY THE LAW. AS FAR AS I'M ONCEARNED...THE MORE THEY WRITE THE BETTER!! SAME GOES FOR THE REDLIGHT RUNNERS...THE MORE TICKETS THE OFFICERS AND/OR REDLIGHT CAMERAS CAN WRITE/SEND TO THESE IDIOTS THE BETTER!

They really don't read the signs They generally wait to the last moment to wait when deciding to change over. It's most cosmedic to them. They think the signs there are for look :-)

Well, I must disagree. As long as the white lane divider is dashed (not solid) and existent, the lane, technically, has not ended. Anyone can drive in the lane until the point where the lane divider ends and the lane truly merges into the next one.

The problem is that the drivers in the lane that isn't going away are stubborn and will not let the drivers of the disappearing lane in front of them. If you continue driving in the lane until it ends, the driver in the next lane is more apt to let you in because at that point he realizes that you really don't have any other choice.

If every driver would continue to the end of the lane, traffice would run smoother because there woulnd't be a pile up of drivers trying to merge too early.

Have you ever noticed that people generally don't change lanes unless they have to. Once they change, they stay there until they have to change, again.

It is the same mindlessness phenomenon that causes people to pull out beyond the "appropriate" lane when entering a roadway. (e.g. Some one turning right at an intersection will turn into one of the lanes (other than the right most) because 10 miles down the road they plan to turn left.)

The same thing is at play with these ending lanes. These people generally are mindlessly driving along until all of the sudden, they have no lane left. At which point, they continue their mindless driving and just move over, ignoring the fact that they do not have the right of way and are in the wrong.

There are some people that do it just to be an BLEEP. I have been known to do it when someone is being an BLEEP around me...just to mess with them.

Rusty Nickel just about describes me. I'm a bit rusty and don't really have two nickels to rub together. Retired retail executive who now works part-time in the home mortgage field. Travel extensively throughout North and East Texas, sometimes logging as much as 1200 miles per week. Work when I want to, play when I need to. Hobbies include cooking (eating), gardening and entertaining grandchildren. Dislike obnoxious people, arragant people and those who are so one sided that they need to be propped up so they don't fall over. Can't understand why parents fail to raise children who respect others and take responsibility for their own actions. I have a couple of "rotten kids" who have a couple of "rotten kids" -- and, I admit that I've probably had a hand in making 'em that way. I love kids, dogs, fast cars and lots of good food. Hate commercials that show foods that I can never get when I order the same thing....still love to cook and hate to clean up afterwards.
