I'm wondering.  Am I the only one who wonders why officers, in uniform, driving marked police cars, can travel on the southern section of Interstate 20, in the fast lane, doing over 80mph and yet be from agencies such as Garland, Mesquite, Frisco, Plano, etc.  There have been several mornings when I've been passed as if I were sitting still by officers going somewhere in a big hurry.  No lights, no sirens.  Just with the pedal to the metal.  And, they are usually on their cell phones, too.  Yet I never see a Dallas officer or a County Sheriff pulling anyone like this over......and if they did what would happen?  LOL  NOTHING.

NO ONE!!! I know one who thinks he is "entitled" and drives like a bat out of H...L on or off duty.... police cruiser or private car...knows he is "immune" His own mother will NOT ride in a car with him...

They are usually calling in a donut order to go and they want to make sure they don't get cold.

Wonder what would happen if the general public were to call in on one of these guys? Probably nothing. Or, the dispatcher would lie to tell you they were going to a crime in progress.
Outspoken1, ya'll probably be more correct.

And all this time I thought they were out there to be a good influence on drivers... NOT!!! What the heck is wrong with these people... po-po's? They are a horrible influence. Especially to those young and inexperienced drivers out there. I watched a Sheriff pass this car this morning who non-chilontly drove over the double white line and the po-po did nothing. They want to catch people smoking weed not life threatening drivers who don't know how to drive. They've got thier job all wrong!

Its amazing! Cops are SUPPOSED to be the "role models" for all us drivers out there. Hell no! They are just immune to all laws and only get caught off duty, but most of the time they slide.

Several years ago a cop in LA t-boned my daughter..she had her directional on to turn left..a cop behind her was in a BIG hurry..tried to pass her as she was turning..he was speeding and not on a call either..was not weqring a seat belt and ws passing at an intersection...he walked scott free..her car was totaled...somehow they assessed her 10% at blame..even though there was a witness..Within minutes of the accident there were at least a dozen patrol cars at the scene and the cop that hit her started questioning what she was doing out at 1 AM..she was heading home from work..a college student at the time working in the theatre...she had just finished breaking the set after a show. Her interrogation at the accident scene was way out of line...

Just this afternoon a Crandall Police Occifer passed me headed west on 175 just outside of Kaufman. I was travelling 70mph, in a matter of just minutes, he was NO WHERE to be seen. Must have been going 90 or more. No lights, no siren. His unit number was Crandall 601 -- whatever that means. But, it's just my point. These guys are supposed to uphold the laws, abide by them and set examples. Yet NO ONE can or does anything about them.
If there was a true emergency - why didn't he have lights and siren? What could have possibly been so important at 2:45pm that he had to jeapordize the safety of numerous other motorist on the highway?

There was a time that there was this Dart cop that was pulled over in uniform and recieve a ticket for driving in a HOV lane along in his privately own vehicle. Mind you now when his supervisor found out about the ticket he was chew out and reprimaned and it was put into his personnel jacket folder on file in the personnel dept at Dart. I figure that you all want an be's out there might want to know.

There is a certain amount of immunity that the police seem to enjoy but I really can not complain. For the most part they leeve me alone and let me do my job. I drive about 200 miles a day in the Dallas area and have not been pulled over in over ten years out of over twenty of doing the same job. Even when I went to New Orleans to work after Katrina the police did not stop us even though we were doing quite a bit over the posted speed limits when working there.
I have to say that there are some police dept's better than other's in how they deal with the public and I will not list which I think are the worst but I will say that I think that the Carrollton and Farmer's Branch police dept's are above the standard in their overall public service. Dallas is okay, and Ft. Worth seems to be above average. Watch out for the smaller towns though, some can really be a revenue trap!

I totally agree with you runaround. My son and I were in a 7 car wreck on 35 at Valley View yesterday (4-9-08) His truck was totalled - but no one was hurt. I went thru 3 different dispatchers trying to get the "right" police officer out there - it was a battle between Dallas and Farmers Branch. They shut down the freeway (this all happened at 5pm) and moved us all to shoulder. Four of the 7 cars exchanged info and left - we waited for tow truck that the Farmers Branch police officer got us. The Dallas police (which it WAS their juridstriction) finally arrived after 1 hour of the 911 call. The Farmers Branch police officer stayed with us until it was all over and was VERY cordial. What an ordeal and an eye opener for me!!

Rusty Nickel just about describes me. I'm a bit rusty and don't really have two nickels to rub together. Retired retail executive who now works part-time in the home mortgage field. Travel extensively throughout North and East Texas, sometimes logging as much as 1200 miles per week. Work when I want to, play when I need to. Hobbies include cooking (eating), gardening and entertaining grandchildren. Dislike obnoxious people, arragant people and those who are so one sided that they need to be propped up so they don't fall over. Can't understand why parents fail to raise children who respect others and take responsibility for their own actions. I have a couple of "rotten kids" who have a couple of "rotten kids" -- and, I admit that I've probably had a hand in making 'em that way. I love kids, dogs, fast cars and lots of good food. Hate commercials that show foods that I can never get when I order the same thing....still love to cook and hate to clean up afterwards.
