4-Day Work Week

Does anyone really believe that a four-day work week is going to help decrease the usage of gasoline? Doesn't it seem that this would just give people more opportunity to use those days for recreation, travel, etc? I know that I don't have all the answers (heck, I don't even know all the questions) but this just seems stupid to me. What do the bloggers say?
HOV Bumps

Are there serious plans to ever remove the HOV bumps from I-635? You know, those things that are remaining after all of the uprights have been destroyed. With more missing poles than those upright it only seems logical. But "logical" is a word seldom used by those in charge. Logical might have meant using the additional 20% of roadway for traffic, with or without two people in the vehicle.
Slow Drivers

First, let me be totally honest. I'm a safe driver who follows the rules. I've only had one moving violation in the past 35 years. And, I still don't believe that I deserved that one, but it wasn't worth fighting.
What I have a real problem with is this: Why is it that everyone who has absolutely no place to go; all day to get there; no care about anyone else -- why are they ALWAYS in front of me, regardless of where I go?
There can be no one behind me for miles and yet, some idiot with a junker of a pickup or car just can't wait another 30 seconds and will pull out in front of me? Then they drive 10-15mph.
Then there are those in front of me who can't remember that it doesn't take a personal written invitation to move when the light actually does turns green. Or, they will sit there on their darned phones until the light is ready to turn yellow again before they move on. Usually making it unsafe for the next vehicle to move.
I now know why I never learned to cuss before I learned to drive.
Wonder why Texas hasn't come up with a Texas Driver's License refresher course? Those who received their license 50 years ago can simply renew their license each five to seven years by passing an eye test and paying the fee. Nothing about the fact that new laws have been passed, laws have changed, etc.
Speed Traps??

Wondering if the Fox4 bloggers can shed some light on any known SPEED TRAPS around the area. Now, I'm not asking for the normal traffic enforcement types -- just those known as real speed traps. Thanks.
Roll Overs, Bottoms Up, Flips

Anyone else as amazed as I on the number of roll over accidents that occur on our freeways? It seems that each time we see a picture from the Fox4 Chopper, there is a SUV on it's top or side that has been involved in an accident. Is it the design of the vehicles or could it just be the fact that there are that many people who drive our freeways that just do not have control over the vehicles they drive? Many times it seems that it is a one vehicle accident! How does this happen?
I'm Wondering

I'm wondering. Am I the only one who wonders why officers, in uniform, driving marked police cars, can travel on the southern section of Interstate 20, in the fast lane, doing over 80mph and yet be from agencies such as Garland, Mesquite, Frisco, Plano, etc. There have been several mornings when I've been passed as if I were sitting still by officers going somewhere in a big hurry. No lights, no sirens. Just with the pedal to the metal. And, they are usually on their cell phones, too. Yet I never see a Dallas officer or a County Sheriff pulling anyone like this over......and if they did what would happen? LOL NOTHING.
Accident Removal

Whatever happened to the idea of QUICKLY removing minor accidents from the Interstate Highways in and around Dallas/Ft. Worth? Sunday there was a minor accident in the canyon on I-30. The damage was barely visible to the two vehicles. It had been pushed off on the right shoulder, yet the Dallas Police officer had the two right lanes blocked with his squad car! It took us over an hour to move the two or three miles of the backup. And, there was only one officer at the scene. Another officer who could help to direct the flow of traffic would make some sense. I think, sometimes, that they do this just to cause delays. Surely there must be some logical reason. Oh, is it that I just live in hope of better times?
County Roads

Wondering if anyone can help me with the numbering system used to number County Roads in Texas? Wife and I were looking for friends who've moved and only had an address of a County Road in Van Zandt County. While driving down Hwy 3080 noticed that the roads were numbered as such: CR 2812, then CR 2810, then came CR 2813 and then CR 2815. What kind of numbering system is this? Also, there is another CR 2813 in Henderson County that is no where near the Van Zandt road. Boy, is this confusing!
Traffic Rules (?)

Have you ever noticed that when it comes to traffic in the Metroplex most drivers drive without any common sense? Signs posted that state, "Left lane ends"; "merge right" are there ONLY for the other driver. These signs never are meant for them.
It's the idiots that drive up to the end of the line that cause most of the traffic tie ups. When they have to stop and force their way into the lane of traffic which is moving, it only causes delays. If, just once, all drivers would drive with courtesy we wouldn't see near as many traffic jams. I would be willing to bet my small check against their big check that traffic would flow much better if they would go ahead and move over when they first notice the signs.....then the traffic could continue at 50 or 60 or 70 mph. Of course this is never going to happen because most of them are too dang busy talking on their cell phones and refuse to pay attention. No wonder we have some of the highest vehicle insurance rates in the nation.
Bumper Bars

Traffic
Driving down 635 during the rain on Saturday a car in the HOV lane lost control and hit those stupid BUMPER BARS that are to placed between the HOV lane and the other lanes to keep drivers in the lane. Those things went in every direction! Luckily none of them hit my car. However, there were others that were guided missiles into several other cars on the freeway. Now, my question is this -- if one of those stupid bars damages your car, who's insurance is responsible for the damages? It shouldn't be my insurance carriers responsibility to pay for the damage, as I've done nothing wrong, except I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The other driver will probably never slow down enough for you to get their insurance information or as has been posted many times -- probably doesn't even have insurance. Dart should have known the things were dangerous. After all it doesn't really take a rocket scientist to know that a flying projectile could cause harm, but it would help to be one in this case. The company that manufactures the dang things surely should have to shoulder some of the responsibility. I'm just wondering. I was lucky this time. Next time I may not be as lucky.
