As I stated in a comment on another Blog...I actually switched from Fox news last night at 6pm to NBC 5 becuase I feel it is simply ridiculous that what 6 minutes of the News right up front (and constant references thruout the newscast) was dedicated to the idiots standing in the heat in TX stadium. This was not news...if there'd been a mass heat stroke incident...news...if there was some amazing alien sighting (how would you tell?) news...
But a bunch of people crammed into a dump of a stadium...by their own choice....to audition for a talent show IS NOT A LEAD STORY. You showed far too much bias to your own programming Fox. There HAD to be something more newsworthy in the entire world...yesterday than THAT!
I will switch my TV again...to NBC if this continues.

My daughter is 6y/o...here's a discussion we had on the passing of Ladybird Johnson yesterday:
She was watching the Fox4 retrospective on Ladybird, she'd passed only 20 minutes prior. They went over the JFK thing, her husband, her classiness and genteel qualities, and her interest in beautifying America and more specifically Texas. They went into quite deeply, Ladybird's work concerning the Bluebonnets here along the Texas hiways...my daughter LOVES Bluebonnets BTW. She is fascinated that picking them in quantity is a crime and that they are very special, and the STATE FLOWER...she's pretty much decided they are the best....flowers...ever. And now watching the retrospective she knows who was responsible. BUT this person is now gone...
Me: "You see honey? This is the nice lady who told lots of people that nature was important, and we should care for it and enjoy it and she also helped us plant all those bluebonnets"
D: "Oh...she was nice. She died tho...that's sad."
Me: "Yes it is...but she had a nice long life and she accomplished a lot of important things that people will always remember"
Silence while D ponders deeply. I can see she's thinking pretty hard...then her little face got even sadder...
D: "But Momma,...now she's gone...will the bluebonnets be gone too?"....
Awwww,.....Ladybird was apparently "The Bluebonnet Fairy" for her...she was truly concerned that since the lady was gone....the flowers would be too. We had a nice discussion on the word 'Legacy' and what it meant...the lifecycle of flowers..and how if bluebonnets did decline and maybe get close to not being around....someone, maybe even her could plant more...and say "Ladybird Johnson says we should keep these Bluebonnets going...so let's do it!".
Just thought it was cute and wanted to share...and help mark the passing of a nice Former First Lady, and Texan, to boot!

Music
I have eclectic music taste to say the least. I ws on an old skool kick today...and I hit up iTunes hard! Below is what I came up with...memories and fun...some serious political messages...it's all here:
The Message-Grand Master Flash/Furious Five
Love's Gonna Getcha-KRS-1
Apache-SugarHill Gang
You Got's To Chill-EPMD
Paid In Full-Eric B. & Rakim
Basketball-Kurtis Blow
Don't Stop/Planet Rock-Afrika Bambaataa
Supersonic-JJ Fad
It Takes 2-Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock
It's Like That-Run-DMC
Couple of other more recent Ice Cube cuts I find nice..."Check Yo Self" & "You Know How We Do It" both of which sample older hip hop...Check in particular samples "The Message".
Could be anything next week. In recent times it's been 80's synth, Electronia, Darkwave, Classic Rock.

Weather
Does anyone else's dog get a kick out of mud and puddles? Or any combination thereof? My little hounds have been going stir crazy due to the rain. When I let them outside to do their business they do it...then gleefully RACE hither and yon thruout the yard...SLOSHING, SPLASHING, SQUELCHING....
Now mind you...they know I don't really like this so they do it as quickly as possible...one second I am watching in the window as all 3 dutifully squat...and in the time it takes for me to get back to the door to let them in...BOOM...splattered, soaked, squishy hounds greet me.
Usually I shrug and say "well you all are disgusting now...so go and play some more" and close the door. I try to ignore the sounds coming from the yard...the pattering of paws on soggy pavement, the yips of glee and yowls of happiness lol. I know I know..it's going to be really ugly when they come in.
Upon opening the door...well..are they dogs or muddy sculptures with long ears? Grab a towel and carry them dripping to the garage for a once over with a towel, and into a crate to dry before the whole thing starts again next outing lol!
I am ready...for the rain to stop!

Still too raw to go into it much...but our baby gave up the fight yesterday. His liver and kidney's were damaged beyond repair. I wanted to take this space in my blog to ask you all that have ever loved a dog...especially a Beagle....to make a small donation to the Beagle rescue I help out...in Hero's name.
There is a link to them at Hero's memorial page...see below...you can also view photos of my boy, and read a bit about what happened.
Thank you bloggers...even if you cannot donate, just reading about him and thinking about him today will make a difference.

Did anyone attend? I went this last weekend....I have to say it was a fascinating exhibit. To think that all that was once walking and talking...wow.
The sense of humor displayed thruout helped lighten what might've been a very "heavy" exhibit. I and my husband enjoyed it.
My favorites were the Horse and Rider, and The Chessplayer. Least favorite probably the Mother and Child...being a mom that was hard to see, yet again...fascinating as well. The Winged Man was disturbing....that hat!! If anyone saw that Poltergeist with the Native American guy? There's a creepy preacher in a hat...looked just like this exhibit lol!
Anyhow just wondering who had attended and what their thoughts were.

I took this...I think it's one of the better pics I've taken of the hounds. Teeny and her nieces and nephew. Teeny is just over 1 year old and the pups turned 5 weeks today!

How seemingly bad an idea is this? The State sent us a postcard stating that we have a High risk offender...address and all that, nearby. Get this...we live within 1 block of an elem. school. and the guy himself is within 2 blocks. Now just so you know here's the wording on what exactly High risk means...
From Arlington's website...
"High: a designated range of points on the sex offender screening tool indicating that the person poses a serious danger to the community and will continue to engage in criminal sexual conduct"
Does the WILL CONTINUE etc. bother anyone else? WHY is this person allowed to be near a school? Walking distance? Access to children any day of the week...hmm
I called the city and "they can't do anything as he doesn't have any restrictions via probation etc.". Frustrating....maybe a Fox News report on this guy shuld be in the works...apparently according to the "screening tool" he WILL reoffend.

You guys see my girl Ellie (Beagle) in the banner? I was tickled pink when I saw it tonight. I wonder how long it's been up there? I emailed Fox to let them know I was very proud to see my Beagle Brat up there! She looks so angelic...NOT! The pic they used is in my Photos section.
Lol...just had to share, thanks Fox!
