"If there were no elephant in the jungle, the buffalo would be a great animal."
-- Ghanaian Proverb

Seems Jenny the elephant is as popular as Olympic gold medalist, Michael Phelps. As Tommy Tutone sang:

Jenny, Jenny, you're the girl for me.
You don't know me but you make me so happy.
I tried to call you before but I lost my nerve.
I tried my imagination, but I was disturbed.

One would think that this tug-of-war between Dallas Zoo officials and various groups vying for Jenny's attention would have been resolved by now.  But hey, think again. Not only is this Dallas (which I love), but we're talking about animal activists who often as not are like having a goalie on a dart team.

Now there's an Arlington attorney, Donald Feare, who is involved on behalf of Concerned Citizens For Jenny. Oh, brother. Anyway, Mr, Feare specializes in animal law (good for him) and has filed a formal protest with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Division. He and others are attempting to keep Jenny from going to Mexico's Africam Safari Park.

But get this. Mr. Feare stated in his letter that Dallas Zoo officials' decision is "a thinly veiled excuse to get rid of a problematic elephant."

Say what? Didn't you mean to say that your letter was a thinly disguised attempt to get Jenny to Tennessee so as to appease Lily Tomlin? Hmm, my bad.

Well, since I am taking the day off, I guess I'll grab my Sony Handycam and get out to the zoo. Maybe I can catch Jenny rolling up and smoking some contraband dung.  Or maybe...just maybe, I can get some tight footage of Jenny the Rogue accepting some bootleg peanuts from passersby. Surely this "problematic" elephant is up to no good and is deliberately trying to get out of Dallas with repeated bad behavior.

Oh, and Dallas Zoo officials? I'm with whatever you decide is best. Don't cowtow to political pressure. Make the call: 867-5309.

Keep your eyes glued to Fox 4 for this developing story.

The U.S. government is already fighting a losing battle with the War On Drugs. Rather than curtailment, more and more drugs continue to flood across our pourous borders, mainly from the south.

Now comes a Texas Represenative  from Waco, Charles "Doc" Anderson, who last year proposed a bill to criminalize the hallucinogenic compound, salvia.  Doc's bill failed to clear committee during last years session, thus he plans on reintroducing a version of the bill that would make the possession of salvia a misdemeanor.

I have to ask, why?

Is it truly in the interest of the citizens of Texas and/or the United States to criminalize everything that alters ones consciousness?  And what will be the result of this bill (if it passes), on those who dare choose to hallucinate...if they are caught?

To me it appears to be nothing more than a vain attempt to ruin lives, burden the taxpayers and create yet another law.  Therefore I am against it...totally.  Besides, once salvia is criminalized, it actually makes the drug more popular. Brilliant of you, Doc. Drugs can be bad enough without a campaign to popularize them.

For those unawares, salvia is an all-natural hallucinogenic that is either smoked like marijuana or chewed. The effects are near instant and are less powerful than LSD. It is available in over a half dozen locations in Dallas over the counter and, is legal in the USA.

Local hospitals have admitted that they have not seen any ER visits as a result of its usage, and this despite the fact it has been around for years. I am surprised that no one has experienced an ER vist as a result of the drug. OD'ing is not possible to the extent that you can't do enough, but I refer to the dangerous conditions presented when one indulges.

As bad as drugs can be I sincerely don't believe we do anything positive by outlawing recreational, personal usage.  It's akin to the failed draconian laws of the prohibition of alcohol.  Too, if local, state and federal law enforcement cannot curtail the myriad offenses of a deadly drug like alcohol, how can we expect them to do anything positive in curtailing a teen drug?

Your thoughts?

French teams: All white

American teams: Black, Russian, Chinese, Indian, White, etc.

America, the “Great Satan”, the racist country who treats immigrants so horribly. That America.

And the silence is deafening from the Liberals in the media.

What a nice cover story it would make for the NY Times or the LA Times or even NBC to do about the inclusivity, tolerance and diversity which makes America great.

Don't hold your breath. It doesn't fit their "blame America first" liberal agenda.

I first heard about www.there.com on the news.  Intrigued, I jotted down the address for a later day when I wasn't so busy.  Last night was such an occasion.

So what is it? Well, There is a virtual community, a place where one can intermingle with others in a second world of sorts. You create a character and give him or her a name. But it isn't just a game or a place to hang out, but there is money to be made on There.

Joining is free. But if you want to improve your character, one does so for mere pennies, yes, real money. For instance, for $9.95 you can make your avatar a premium one and this entitles you to actually open a store in There world. Some people are making $1,000 a month in There and it's only drawing more and more people.

Last night I created a person, clothed him and walked around talking to people. As time permits, I'll create vehicles for sale and see where things go. For those of you who are former chatters, imagine a chat room with characters you can move around, skateboard, ride dune buggies, etc.

By the way, it is  Light in There 24/7. If you have time, check it out.  But be forewarned, if you like blogging and/or chatting, There can and is quickly addicting.

Here's your chance.

Whether you agree or not with the looming name change from Ross Ave. to Cesar Chavez, make your opinion known.

Simply find your district on the map and contact your council member.

Mine is Linda Koop and I have made it known to her that a vote for the name change is a vote against her in the next election.

I am not ready for an inexperienced junior senator from Illinois, with many close radical ties to known terrorists, seditionists and socialists to become president; therefore I’ll vote for the lesser of the two liberals, John McCain.

I am not ready to pay higher fuel prices while the fat cats vacation; therefore I endorse the “Paris Plan,” although I do not endorse either Paris or Paris, France.

I am not ready to be threatened nor otherwise intimidated by LULAC as a whole, by it’s individual members, or by any other groups affiliated with them; therefore I always vote with my money and write the Mayor and City Council members individually.

I am not ready for our troops to come home from anywhere they’re serving until the time is right from a proper military perspective, not a political one; therefore I stay abreast of what’s happening and email, call or write the appropriate authorities and voice my opinion accordingly.

I am not ready to surrender to the incessant barrage of attacks by non-believers on Christianity; therefore I pray, fight on against Islam, atheism, secular humanism, and other false religions (that people are free to pursue), combating ignorance and bias while praying some more.

I am not ready to give up the freedom we have in America to incremental laws, entitlement programs, big government and those with subversive ideologies that otherwise seek to destroy this country from within; therefore I side with conservative policies, and, against the desires of a certain political candidate, cling to my guns and Bible.

What are you ready for?

So today the City Council votes on what to rename Industrial Blvd.  Mayor Tom Leppert was on Good Day speaking on the subject and it sounded like Chavez was but a remote possibility.  Tom advised that a more appropriate name reflecting the changes downtown was better.

Leppert thought Cesar Chavez should have a street named after him but even paused when Ross Avenue was mentioned by Tim. Is the mayor considering a side street or alley or what?

What do you think, considering Chavez's life and record?

I wrote this yesterday. I have a woman who is going to sing this while I record it and then I'll place it on YouTube.

Obama

(Sung to the tune of Abba’s "Fernando")

Can you hear the news, Obama?

I remember long ago another slanted poll like this

In the news limelight, Obama

You were bragging on yourself and boldly strumming your ego

I could hear the platitudes

And promises were ringing hollow from afar.

The hour’s closer now Obama

Every minute of your rhetoric seems to last eternally

I am so afraid Obama

We were fine and full of life and none of us prepared to die

And I’m not ashamed to say

You’re charm does not even hide your arrogance.

There was something in the air all right

It wasn’t right, Obama

The media was there for you not me

No liberty, Obama

Though I never thought that we could lose

There’s still regret

If I had to do the same again

I wouldn’t, my King, Obama.

If I had to do the same again

I wouldn’t, my King, Obama.

Now we’re old and grey Obama

Been many years I’ve not heard a speech from your lying lips

Can you hear the news Obama? Do you still recall the way we tried to overthrow the man?

I can see it in your eyes

How proud you were to fight for socialism in this land

There was something in the air all right

It wasn’t right, Obama The media was there for you not me

No liberty, Obama

Though I never thought that we could lose

There’s still regret

If I had to do the same again

I wouldn’t, my King, Obama.

There was something in the air all right

It wasn’t right, Obama

The media was there for you not me

No liberty, Obama

Though I never thought that we could lose

There’s still regret

If I had to do the same again

I wouldn’t, my King, Obama

Yes if I had to do the same again

I wouldn't, my King, Obama.

Thankfully I have my own pool. Because of that, I don't have to swim through the filth of others when I want to take a dip and cool off.

Yeah, kids have always tinkled in pools. Adam and Eve's kids did it even though it's not in Genesis. But defecate? My goodness, that's almost as sick as the Toosie Roll floating in the pool in "Caddyshack."

Cryptosporidium sounds more like an STD that a parasitical nuisance. And think about it, cryptosporidium  could be misdiagnosed, dependent on where someone ate the day previous. Can you say Panchos?

In these technological days of haste, it's scary to know you can't trust your food, much less a place to swim after your requisite 30 minute wait after eating to avoid cramps. And that's not to mention the floaties and other toys imported from China.

Sheesh. What a summer for the kids.

(Que music): I don't know about the rest of you mugs, but there ain't no bugs on me.

This guy made a lot of good points with regard to the media slant towards the neo-messiah, Obama.

These are excerpts from Obama's Berlin speech that I have taken the liberty of identifying and categoring.

Socialism

People of the world - look at Berlin, where a wall came down, a continent came together, and history proved that there is no challenge too great for a world that stands as one.

While the 20th century taught us that we share a common destiny, the 21st has revealed a world more intertwined than at any time in human history.

Global Warming Rhetoric

As we speak, cars in Boston and factories in Beijing are melting the ice caps in the Arctic, shrinking coastlines in the Atlantic, and bringing drought to farms from Kansas to Kenya.

One World Government

In this new world, such dangerous currents have swept along faster than our efforts to contain them. That is why we cannot afford to be divided. No one nation, no matter how large or powerful, can defeat such challenges alone.

The walls between old allies on either side of the Atlantic cannot stand. The walls between the countries with the most and those with the least cannot stand. The walls between races and tribes; natives and immigrants; Christian and Muslim and Jew cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down.

Disarmament and Reducing the Military

This is the moment when we must renew the goal of a world without nuclear weapons. The two superpowers that faced each other across the wall of this city came too close too often to destroying all we have built and all that we love. With that wall gone, we need not stand idly by and watch the further spread of the deadly atom. It is time to secure all loose nuclear materials; to stop the spread of nuclear weapons; and to reduce the arsenals from another era. This is the moment to begin the work of seeking the peace of a world without nuclear weapons.

Global Socialist Economy

This is the moment when we must build on the wealth that open markets have created, and share its benefits more equitably. Trade has been a cornerstone of our growth and global development. But we will not be able to sustain this growth if it favors the few, and not the many. Together, we must forge trade that truly rewards the work that creates wealth, with meaningful protections for our people and our planet. This is the moment for trade that is free and fair for all.

 Eco-Marxism As A One-World Religion

This is the moment when we must come together to save this planet. Let us resolve that we will not leave our children a world where the oceans rise and famine spreads and terrible storms devastate our lands. Let us resolve that all nations - including my own - will act with the same seriousness of purpose as has your nation, and reduce the carbon we send into our atmosphere. This is the moment to give our children back their future. This is the moment to stand as one.

Black Liberation Theology

Now the world will watch and remember what we do here - what we do with this moment. Will we extend our hand to the people in the forgotten corners of this world who yearn for lives marked by dignity and opportunity; by security and justice? Will we lift the child in Bangladesh from poverty, shelter the refugee in Chad, and banish the scourge of ADS in our time?

Open Borders As A Step To One-World Government

Will we welcome immigrants from different lands, and shun discrimination against those who don't look like us or worship like we do, and keep the promise of equality and opportunity for all of our people?

The Global Warming conspiracy theorists would have us believe that carbon is bad, you know, like assault rifles, the Bible and drilling for oil in ANWR.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Carbon is good.

Al Gore and the many pundits that push the profitable nonsense known as Global Warming are fully cognizant of the facts yet persist in a perennial plan of beguiling the public.

 Oh, and it's profitable, too!

The fact is, 97% plus of all CO2 is a result of the natural planet.  Indeed, less than 3% of CO2 in the atmosphere is the direct result of humans. The height of arrogance is reached when mere mortals believe they can control carbon (a greenhouse gas) by selling indulgences.

Yes, there are unscrupulous people that will sell you VER's (Verified Emission Reduction Credits) to offset your guilt. Indeed, one particular website calculates your contribution to global warming based on scientific data...well, ok, so they estimate, but what's the price of relieving guilt, right? http://www.atmosclear.org/projects_vers

Last I remembered about CO2, we needed it. It is crucial to our survival. Carbon dioxide is produced by all animals, plants, fungi and microorganisms during respiration and is used by plants during photosynthesis. Fact is, large amounts of carbon dioxide are emitted from volcanoesand other geothermal processes such as hot springs and geysers. Will the eco-Nazi's ban those next?

See any controversy here? The same people that clamor about deforestation (hello, trees, plants, etc produce CO2) are against the increase of CO2.  Can you have it both ways? Apparently so, if you're a tree-hugging liberal.

The true danger rests in those that have a penchant for embellishment at your expense. Go ahead and pay for your green guilt indulgences. It won't offset anything save for your budget. Hey, ask your accountant if this is worthwhile.

Eco-Marxism is sweeping the country folks. I'm going underground and fighting back. Won't you join me?

The McCain article and the NY Times annotations below it.

In January 2007, when General David Betrayus Petraeus[NYT1] took command in Iraq, he called the situation “hard” but not “hopeless.” He was completely wrong. The situation in Iraq is hopeless, the surge was a failure. Even Comrade Harry Reid has declared the war lost, so it must be true. Today, 18 months later, violence has fallen by up to 80% to the lowest levels in four years, and Sunni and Shiite terrorists are reeling from a string of defeats. The situation now is full of hope, but considerable hard work remains to consolidate our fragile gains[NYT2]

Progress has been due primarily to an increase in the number of troops and a change in their strategy
[NYT3] I was an early advocate of the surge at a time when it had few supporters in Washington. Senator Barack Obama was an equally vocal opponent. I have to say, Senator Obama really got that one right. He nailed it. And have I mentioned that because He is so young, fresh, vibrant, brilliant, eloquent---that he makes me look even older than I am? It’s kind of annoying but I’m probably only irritated because that’s what happens when you get really old.

Now Senator Obama has been forced to acknowledge that “our troops have performed brilliantly in lowering the level of violence.” But he still denies that any political progress has resulted[NYT5] [NYT6] .

The
success[NYT7]  of the failure of the surge has not changed Senator Obama’s determination to pull out all of our combat troops[NYT8] domestic murderers. All that has changed is his rationale. In a New York Times op-ed and a speechsermon  this week, Hhe offered hHis “ Holy plan for Iraq in advance of hHis first “fact findingMessianic Journeytrip to that country in more than three two thousand years. It consisted of the same old proposal to pull all of our troops assassins of the innocent out within 16 months, but it also was a message of hope, because after all, Senator Obama is the Savior of mankind. In 2007 he wanted to withdraw because he thought the war was lost. If we had taken his advice, it would have been. Now he wants to withdraw because he thinks Iraqis no longer need our assistance. It was a far cry from the message that I brought over there which mainly consisted of spreading my love for the games of Scrabble,  and Shuffleboard, and murder of minorities.

To make this point, He manglesuses only  the hard evidence. He deftly points out that makes it sound as if Prime Minister Maliki has endorsed the Obama timetable. How do I top that? All I can offer is four more years of George W. Bush, and making the White House smell like those houses that old people live in. , when all he has said is that he would like a plan for the eventual withdrawal of U.S. troops at some unspecified point in the future.

Senator Obama is also misleading on the Iraqi military's readiness. The Iraqi Army will be equipped and trained by the middle of next year, under the guidance of President Obama.but tThis  does not, means that as Senator Obama suggests, mean that they will then be ready to secure their country without a good deal of help. The Iraqi Air Force, for one, still lags behind, and no modern army can operate without air cover. The Iraqis are also still learning how to conduct planning, logistics, command and control, communications, and other complicated functions needed to support frontline troops. The only help we should be giving them is, of course, all the sensitive locations of any remaining United States soldiers just before major operations---something this very paper has done very, very well.

No one favorsI favor a permanent U.S. presence in Iraq, as Senator Obama accurately charges. A partial withdrawal has already occurred with the departure of five “surge” brigades, and more withdrawals can take place as the security situation improves. Of course, that won’t happen because Iraq is, as I’ve said, already lost so there is really no room for improvement. As we draw down in Iraq, we can make sure to give all of our troops racist soldier’s locations to the enemy so they can have adequate time to prepare for an attack. beef up our presence on other battlefields, such as Afghanistan, without fear of leaving a failed state behind. I have said that I expect to welcome home most of our troops evil soldiers  from Iraq by the end of my first term in office, in 2013. I will be 107 years old at that time. Probably won’t be able to talk much anymore. I’ll be going to the bathroom every five minutes. I’ll be so, so, so very old and crusty. You know how Presidents look so young when they start and then by the end of their term they have aged? Can you imagine what I will look like at the end of my term? I’ll try to play as much Pinochle as possible to stay fit, but the job of President can be, at times, too demanding for those shananegans.

But I have also said that any draw-downs must be based on a realistic assessment of conditions on the ground, not on an artificial timetable crafted for domestic political reasons. This is the crux of my disagreement with Senator Obama. Unfortunately for me and my campaign, Senator Obama is once again correct and I am once again siding with George W. Bush and his corrupt administration.

Senator Obama has said that hHe would consult our commanders on the ground and Iraqi leaders, and I commend him for that. He is truly showing signs that He will be a great President. I’m starting to think that perhaps I should just bail on this whole thing and keep the cushy job in the Senate. Did you know they have new puzzles out in the lobby for us to work on every week? I’m talking the 5,000 piece ones. I know!

[NYT9]Blah blah blah shut up already old man!

but he did no such thing before releasing his “plan for Iraq.” Perhaps that’s because he doesn’t want to hear what they have to say. During the course of eight visits to Iraq, I have heard many times from our troops what Major General Jeffrey Hammond, commander of coalition forces in Baghdad, recently said: that leaving based on a timetable would be “very dangerous[NYT9] .”

The danger hope is that extremists supported by Al Qaeda and Iran could stage a comeback, as they have so valiantly in the past when we’ve had too few troops military based serial killers  in Iraq. Senator Obama seems to have learned nothing so much from recent history. I find it ironicneat  that he is emulating the worst mistake of the Bush administration French by waving the Mission AccomplishedWe surrender” banner prematurely.

I am also dismayed overjoyed that he never talks about winning the war—only of ending it. But iIf we don’t win the war, our enemies will.Good! A triumph for the terrorists would be a disasteran overall positive for us. That is something I will wish I’d not allow to happen as president, but I’m too incompetent and old. A triumph for the terrorists. Instead I will continue implementing a proven counterinsurgency strategy not only in Iraq but also in Afghanistan with the goal of creating stable, secure, self-sustaining democratic allies.May the Universe Bless America, and may Mother Earth bless the animals, rocks and trees. Thank you.

Aside from causing the caps to melt like a Dallas sno-cone in July, and forcing the polar bears to store their Coca-Cola in refrigerators from Aarons Rent-A-Center, now Global Warming causes kidney stones.  I'm not kidding but surely the researchers are...aren't they?

An excert of an article read thus: "More Americans are likely to suffer from kidney stones in the coming years as a result of global warming, according to researchers at the University of Texas. Kidney stones, which are formed from dissolved minerals in the urine and can be extremely painful, are often caused by caused by dehydration."

Tom Brikowski, a Dallas UTD researcher conceded that predictions about global warming also include significant uncertainty.  Ya think? But yet go ahead and publish it anyway, right Tom? I mean, how else can you easily obtain grants if not by subscribing to the global warming scare?

Ok, I must admit I'm no scientist and maybe my conclusions aren't worthy,  but I don't see where GW causes KS.  Seems to me it's a matter of diet. But hey, maybe these "scientists" can determine if kidney stones were present  with Eric the Red back in the days of the frozen tundra.

There's another non-scientist that pushes Global Warming for profit, and the masses flock to his throne, tossing their trinkets of wisdom, and cold, hard cash. The Benevolent Master of Deception (and inventor of the Internet and cell phone) then passes these on to us mere serfs in his make-believe realm. Well, except the cash.

I don't know about you, but I'm not selling my soul out to fantasy nor am I buying into this nonsense.

It's just more madness coming out of the liberal circle of environuts.

More stupidity is emanating from the Dallas City Council chambers.  If it isn't graft and corruption, it is petty bickering and racial divide.  Seems the latest division began over the term black hole.  In this instance, council member Kenneth Mayfield called the city's ticket collection facility a black hole.

An immediate reaction arose from known troublemaker, John Wiley Price, when is his abject stupidity, he retorted, "White hole."  While Mayfield's comment was obviously directed towards the way money is sucked in, Wiley's comment was decidely racist.  His racially sensitive nature inflamed the council unnecessarily.

But where stupidity rears its ugly head, even more abounds. Enter  the arrogance and stupidity of Judge Thomas Jones, who asked for an apology from Commissioner Mayfield.  Say what?

Mr. Price took objection to Mayfield's comments, relating in essence that the term "black hole" had negative connotations for black people. Say what?  How, pray tell, does a scientific term now become a racially insensitive and derogatory stab?

The antics of both Price and Jones should be an insult to all sensible men and women of Dallas. Their collective claim of racism where none existed is a slap in the face to those who truly have been subjected to racism.

It would appear that some on the council use a fear or scare tactic to manipulate other Commissioners. Too, this conduct by the aforementioned is typically referred to (and rightly so) as race-baiting. It is an ignorant, immature and stupid attempt to deflect the true merits of an issue and sidetrack it with another false attack. It can also be called a red herring.

Price and Jones are part and parcel pf why racism continues to exist in Dallas and everywhere.  Perhaps they have learned well from their two mentors: Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

Native Californian transplanted to Texas in 1989, and I love the Metroplex! I'm a veteran paratrooper/infantryman and very conservative minded. I have no qualms about confronting policies that are detrimental to the United States of America regardless of any political persuasion. I support a strong military, tough, no-nosense politics, truth, justice and yes, even apple pie. I am against the Oprah-ization of this country, liberal politics and seditionists at every level. I'm a firm believer in the idea that the coddling mentality has backfired and served to ruin the backbone of America. There's nothing a good BLEEP-kicking or some firm policies won't fix. I love sports, most notably NASCAR, the NHL, the NFL and MLB. I am a season ticket holder for the Dallas Stars and out at Texas Motor Speedway.
