scottythecomic's whimsical rantings

Here's your chance.

Whether you agree or not with the looming name change from Ross Ave. to Cesar Chavez, make your opinion known.

Simply find your district on the map and contact your council member.

Mine is Linda Koop and I have made it known to her that a vote for the name change is a vote against her in the next election.

OMG... I won't actually how many times they've ALL heard from me, but I must take a little credit for keeping Industrial from becoming CC. LOL! Email, letters, phone calls... hubby and family were busy.
We're already started work on this Ross fiasco. The ROSS BROTHERS had an impact ON Dallas and now,it's a historic street name. That little hispanic- lets- make- threats- if- we- don't- get- our- way dude, can eat DIRT.

I'm in District 11 but I do spend money on Ross. I will buy elsewhere if the name is changed against the will of business owners there.

Scotty this is a GREAT post.

You have given the bloggers the tools needed to actually DO something other than just talk this subject to death.

It's nice to talk about but that doesn't really get anything done.

Thanks.

Scotty, thank you for this post! Like I've been saying "UNLESS WE stand up and let our elected officials know of our displeasure with the way they pass bills, we are the one's that lose." And unless they listen to US then come election time they'll see that the voters have spoken loud and clear..

I lived in Dallas when Dallas was a fun, good place to live. We lived in a nice neighborhood and watched it slowly become a bad, dangerous place to live because of the type of people taking over. Once in awhile we have to go back to that part of Dallas an it's unbelievable how it has run down.

I hope the people that own or have businesses on Ross holds out and keeps the name Ross. There is no reason to change the name.

We occasionally still go to Ross - I'll do the same, scotty... and let the business owners KNOW how we feel.

There are 3 businesses I buy from on Ross. Again, if it changes they won't be getting my money any longer.

Scottbee, I understand what you are saying. I know of two "hoods" that that is happening at now. What a shame.

They want a street named after Chavez but yet want to take away from Dallas history?
Why don't they pick a street that makes more sense to change the name. Pearl Expressway that runs to the Farmer's Market seems like a perfect street since Chavez did so much for the farming inndustry.

If this is the way that you are presenting your cases to the politicians, no wonder they are not listening. No one whether citizen, legal, or illegal immigrant wants to hear of so much hate. Let’s get creative and find a fair solution for all instead of being frustrated.

G in Irving that's starting to make more sense.

That's not hate, it's racist, needtobefairaslongasitsgoingyourwayallthetime. You dropped the LULAC mantra: Racist!

YOU RACIST! How dare you encourage people to make educated decisions and contact their councilmembers? Only people with no interest in Dallas, like the Cesar Chavez committee, should be doing that.

HaHa. I find it amusing that I'm deemed a racist because I don't support illegal invasions, LULAC, or the incremental take over of Texas by illegals.

That is all they have, scotty. Otherwise they would have to admit that they think Texas should belong to Mexico because we took it unfairly. Cy actually admitted that the other day.

Don't live in Dallas, but happily well north of it, and most of the dogs barking and yelping whenever they get hungry or want something !,I still belive when something or someone threatins me I have the right to respond accordingly, not bend over and smile like a policition scared to offend someone and lose their meal ticket !

I'm with you on that, Texan. Where's the backbone of men and women? I sweat to you that we've become a nation of apathetic, let someone-else-do-it, wimps.

Need2bfair...if citizens of Dallas do not want Ross street changed to Cesar Chavez, in what way is that hate? We are not out rioting in the streets or burning the Mexican flag. We are letting lawmakers know we do not approve of this change in a civilized manner. What is it you don't understand about democracy at work?

If the want to change a street name let them BUT LET THEM PAY THE MILLIONS IT WILL COST, they have to change maps, all the signs on the street, many others that I can't remember I think it was Texas true blue that said this ...

Native Californian transplanted to Texas in 1989, and I love the Metroplex! I'm a veteran paratrooper/infantryman and very conservative minded. I have no qualms about confronting policies that are detrimental to the United States of America regardless of any political persuasion. I support a strong military, tough, no-nosense politics, truth, justice and yes, even apple pie. I am against the Oprah-ization of this country, liberal politics and seditionists at every level. I'm a firm believer in the idea that the coddling mentality has backfired and served to ruin the backbone of America. There's nothing a good BLEEP-kicking or some firm policies won't fix. I love sports, most notably NASCAR, the NHL, the NFL and MLB. I am a season ticket holder for the Dallas Stars and out at Texas Motor Speedway. Win or lose, I stick to my teams: Dallas Stars, Dallas Cowboys, San Diego Chargers, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, Cleveland Indians and the San Diego Padres.
