scottythecomic's whimsical rantings

"If there were no elephant in the jungle, the buffalo would be a great animal."
-- Ghanaian Proverb

Seems Jenny the elephant is as popular as Olympic gold medalist, Michael Phelps. As Tommy Tutone sang:

Jenny, Jenny, you're the girl for me.
You don't know me but you make me so happy.
I tried to call you before but I lost my nerve.
I tried my imagination, but I was disturbed.

One would think that this tug-of-war between Dallas Zoo officials and various groups vying for Jenny's attention would have been resolved by now.  But hey, think again. Not only is this Dallas (which I love), but we're talking about animal activists who often as not are like having a goalie on a dart team.

Now there's an Arlington attorney, Donald Feare, who is involved on behalf of Concerned Citizens For Jenny. Oh, brother. Anyway, Mr, Feare specializes in animal law (good for him) and has filed a formal protest with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Division. He and others are attempting to keep Jenny from going to Mexico's Africam Safari Park.

But get this. Mr. Feare stated in his letter that Dallas Zoo officials' decision is "a thinly veiled excuse to get rid of a problematic elephant."

Say what? Didn't you mean to say that your letter was a thinly disguised attempt to get Jenny to Tennessee so as to appease Lily Tomlin? Hmm, my bad.

Well, since I am taking the day off, I guess I'll grab my Sony Handycam and get out to the zoo. Maybe I can catch Jenny rolling up and smoking some contraband dung.  Or maybe...just maybe, I can get some tight footage of Jenny the Rogue accepting some bootleg peanuts from passersby. Surely this "problematic" elephant is up to no good and is deliberately trying to get out of Dallas with repeated bad behavior.

Oh, and Dallas Zoo officials? I'm with whatever you decide is best. Don't cowtow to political pressure. Make the call: 867-5309.

Keep your eyes glued to Fox 4 for this developing story.

I wouldn't send ANYTHING to mexico, except ILLEGALS, but there's way to much made over this elephant. Every liberal whack, the PETA whacks, all blathering about this animal is beyond silly. But, ppl DO define themselves by the words and deeds though. LOL

So, instead of doing something important and useful, like DEMANDING the government liberals let the oil companies get the oil we need, they boohoo about an elephant. geeeeesh

Make her a senator, and send her to Washington !

With all the crappo going on there, they'll never notice that she's an elephant

unless Pelosi or Hillary overloads her ears !

The thing that I find hilarious about this is that they've turned this Elephant into a political issue! Does she represent the Democrats? What's the reasoning behind sending Jenny to Mexico? She's been an American Elephant for 20+ years and now they want to ship her off to Mexico. STUPID!

Her green card is expiring. Nevertheless, Concerned Citizens want her in Tennessee so Lily Tomlin can have her way.

I really am all for sending Jenny to wherever the Dallas Zoo officials want to send her. Good grief, why in the sam hades do people have to rebel against every freakin' thing?

LIBERAL THINKING.... it literally destroys the God given mind. "Being conservative takes WORK; being a liberal is what comes natural." Limbaugh And he's right.

Guess we need to see what the Great OBambie says... but darn, I just heard on the news, it's NO to mexico, so ole PMex will have something to blog about? lol

Just found out (KXAS website) that Jenny is staying in Dallas. They're going to speed up the African Savannah habitat & get her a companion.

Thank goodness she doesn't have to go to Mexico where she wouldn't even be able to drink the water! LOL!

Now ~ aren't we glad that's resolved?!

Native Californian transplanted to Texas in 1989, and I love the Metroplex! I'm a veteran paratrooper/infantryman and very conservative minded. I have no qualms about confronting policies that are detrimental to the United States of America regardless of any political persuasion. I support a strong military, tough, no-nosense politics, truth, justice and yes, even apple pie. I am against the Oprah-ization of this country, liberal politics and seditionists at every level. I'm a firm believer in the idea that the coddling mentality has backfired and served to ruin the backbone of America. There's nothing a good BLEEP-kicking or some firm policies won't fix. I love sports, most notably NASCAR, the NHL, the NFL and MLB. I am a season ticket holder for the Dallas Stars and out at Texas Motor Speedway. Win or lose, I stick to my teams: Dallas Stars, Dallas Cowboys, San Diego Chargers, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, Cleveland Indians and the San Diego Padres.
