This is great! Being of a feline persuasion this is overdue! Cats are a breed apart [no pun intended] and with their complex personalities [more so than dogs - and don't say it, i have a dog as well] it bodes well to match by personality rather than what they are looks wise. All cats are cute as kittens - but sometimes what they grow into isn't as cutesy. My two are complete opposites: Adso is a thrill killer and not a 'feely' cat unless he thinks you deserve his love and divine attention [usually when he wants bonkies]. But then he lived the first months of his life fending for himself in the parking garage at work before I spent  those same months taming him and bringing him home. He tolerates Reno [the dog] but there is no love lost. But he watches out over Adair when they go outside - so Big bro when it comes to her. Adair is a total love machine and mischevious. I get in bed she will come running in and cuddle on my shoulder or neck, and drool [ew]. But she will even cuddle with Reno, within reason. She idolizes Adso and knows she is not allowed out unless he goes too. She will try to snag you going down the stairs thru the banister and has NO problems playing 'trip the two-legs' down the stairs at 4am before you have coffee.

So your cats - how are they personality wise?

Celtic's Burns loses cancer fight

Celtic legend Tommy Burns has died at the age of 51 after losing his long-running battle against cancer. Burns had been undergoing treatment in both Glasgow and France in recent weeks after being diagnosed in March. The former Scotland midfielder was treated for skin cancer in 2006, but it returned earlier this year. Burns played for Celtic from 1974 to 1989, had a spell as manager in the mid-1990s and was the club's first-team coach before being granted leave. A statement from Celtic said: "Tommy, a true Celtic legend and wonderful man will be sadly missed by us all. Clearly, our thoughts are very much with Tommy's wife, Rosemary, and his family at this extremely difficult time." YOUR TRIBUTES Tommy was as honest and dignified as any man could ever hope to be EH Burns was an influential member of the side that won the Scottish Premier Division championship and Scottish Cup in the club's centenary year under the management of Billy McNeill. Having won eight caps for Scotland, he bid an emotional farewell to Celtic after agreeing a £50,000 move to Kilmarnock, becoming manager at Rugby Park four years later. Having guided the club back into the top flight, he was appointed as boss of Celtic in July 1994 and eventually helped the club to end a six-year trophy famine by lifting the Scottish Cup final against Airdrieonians at Hampden. After parting company in 1997, he had spells as manager at Reading and assistant at Newcastle United before eventually returning to Glasgow. Gordon Strachan is devastated at the loss of Tommy Burns He worked in a variety of roles at Celtic - in youth development and with the first team - as well as serving as a member of the Scotland coaching set-up, before his untimely death. Celtic chairman John Reid said Burns' death would be mourned by everyone connected with the club. "Tommy is someone who was loved by so many of us," he said. "He was a man of true integrity and dignity. "As a Celtic player, manager and coach, Tommy served Celtic with distinction and true professionalism. "He was a true gentleman and someone who had the ability to connect and engage with anyone he met. "As Celtic supporters, we recognised Tommy as one of our own and Tommy in turn was always delighted to spend time in the company of fellow fans. He was a fantastic football player. He was effective, so effective. Former team-mate Alan McInally "It was a privilege to know Tommy Burns. He was a man who gave so much to the club he loved over so many years. "Tommy's passing will be mourned by the entire Celtic family. He will be hugely missed by us all, but he is someone we will never, ever forget." Peter Rafferty, Secretary of the Association of Celtic Supporters' Clubs, mirrored Reid's comments. "Celtic was a big part of his life, but the biggest part of his life was his family. He became a grandfather a few weeks ago and that is the biggest tragedy," Rafferty said. "Legend is a word that is used quite a lot these days, but he was. He was a great player with Celtic first and foremost. "He was a manager who played football the way Celtic supporters like to see it." The SFA, who Burns served as a national team coach under Scotland managers Berti Vogts and Walter Smith, described him as a "magnificent ambassador" to the game. Tommy Burns was a Celtic legend - Peter Lawwell "Everyone at the Scottish FA would like to pass on their condolences to the family of Tommy Burns at this very sad time," a statement read. "Tommy's passing is a great loss and he will be sadly missed by us all. He was a true gentleman and a magnificent ambassador for Scottish football." Alan McInally, who played alongside Burns at Celtic and under him at Kilmarnock, added: "He was a fantastic football player. "He was effective, so effective. I think that's why as a coach and a manager he did so well."

Football has lost one of its greats with Tommy Burns' passing that happened so quickly!  It is truely a sad day for Celtic fans and football fans worldwide who were lucky enough to watch him play. Gods bless you Tommy Burns!!

Swiss government says Euro 2008 fans can have their chips

BERNE, Switzerland (Reuters) - The Swiss government has agreed to ease restrictions on the importation of potatoes following fears that Euro 2008 football fans could face a shortage of French fries next month.

A spokesman for the country's department of agriculture told national radio on Wednesday that the government would allow an additional 5,000 tonnes of potatoes to be brought in.

The decision follows a request by Swiss potato industry association Swisspatat who warned that supplies were already running low in the buildup to the June tournament.

The association has estimated that 3,000 additional tonnes will be needed to make chips for foreign supporters, with the remaining 2,000 used for other forms of potato.

Switzerland has already been fretting over dwindling supplies of its beloved 'cervelat' sausage following a European Union ban on the Brazilian cows' intestines traditionally used to encase the meat.

Economics minister Doris Leuthard, who is also responsible for agriculture, told the national parliament in March there were enough cervelats in reserve to last at least through Euro 2008.

The tournament runs from June 7 to 29 and will be co-hosted by Switzerland and neighbouring Austria.

Whew! Glad they got that settled! Wouldn't be football without chips and sausage! So happy they have cervelats in reserve! But this puzzles me: '"with the remaining 2,000 used for other forms of potato'" So like what other forms of potato? Does potato have other forms other than a tuber? Like maybe star form? Or perhaps little cute animal form? Ah..I love it when things are lost in translation. 'I'd like potato please' 'What form?' 'Ummmm Liger please!'

This just amazes me. Does this monster honestly believe anyone is going to buy the insanity defense in this? Do he and his lawyer  honestly think this transparent 'confession' is going to win him any sympathy in the world wide court of public opinion? OMG's - what an ego-driven bottom dwelling pond scum offal! You sexually abused your DAUGHTER! You fathered children with her! You chained her up like an animal for 9 months at the beginning then kept her and 3 of her children in a basement -locked  away from light, fresh air, and the world. You used her for your own sick, twisted deviant needs. You threw one of her children in a furnace. You picked and choose which you would raise based on if they were cry babies or not. You want sympathy? Yeah, thinking no there sunshine. How about this instead: may your own private hell be as bad or worse than your twisted little self can EVER imagine. And when you die, which hopefully will not be for many more years, may it be even worse than that.

"These things are our family," Jones said. "We put everything into them that we have. They've given us everything they have. They put their life on the damn line, and she was glad to do it."

What got me is the last lines in this story. These THINGS?!  Wow, pretty dang impersonal aren't you Mr Jones? I never refer to my beasties who ARE part of my family as THINGS. They put their damn life on the line? She was a race horse - she wasn't in combat she was in a race. A Race that would have made YOU a pretty penny. Guess since she can't do that from the Rainbow Bridge, she is now just a thing.

    I'M COMING HOME TODAY!
Noah's Ark Founder/Director Jama Hedgecoth and staff are at Auburn University today picking up Evidence to bring him to his forever home at Noah's Ark. His vets at Auburn have determined that he is well enough to come home. In four to six weeks, the vets and students who cared for him are planning to come and see him and take out the catheter. We hope and pray that no more surgery will be required.   We're having a WELCOME HOME EVIDENCE PARTY at Noah's Ark at about 1:30 - his estimated time of arrival - complete with cake for our guests - and sweet feed and coastal bermuda hay for Evidence - one of his favorites!   Thank you to each and every one of you who helped to make this day possible - and praise God for bringing this little guy to us.   With much love and appreciation, EvidenceTM and The Noah's Ark Family www.noahs-ark.org

For those of you who don't know, Evidence was an abandoned Zebra foal found on the side of a busy Ga Hiway a few weeks ago. He had numerous internal injurues, a crushed pelvis and lacerated spleen, and about 50 wounds to his body. Noah's Ark had the story on CNN.com and it pulled at my heart so I donated to help him recover. He has, with much love from the Aubrun staff, Noah's Ark staff and all of us who prayed for this little brave animal.Good news in a world of horror is always the best! YAY EVIDENCE!! May you grow tall and strong!

I am not ashamed to admit it. I thought Faster Pussycat was awesome, I had a HUGE crush on Joe Perry, I wanted to be part of Vixen and think Spinal Tap was a GENIUS idea [and one of the BEST movies EVER!!].

But I dunno: Kix? Ummmm...I am trying to understand having them in this list.  Rather Skid Row be in this spot personally. Angel?!  [seriously?! They tossed!!  You gave Angel #20 ahead of Queensryche?! Operation Mind Crime - enough said! That alone makes them worthy of a top 10 ranking!] And where is Poison and W.A.S.P?! You left out POISON?! The icons of pretty boy hair?! What about Jackyl and their awesome inventive use of a chainsaw [ok more metal than pure hair but hey, 80's rock is 80's rock!]. OH Damn Yankees....where are they? This list is lacking!!

If you were a  hair rocker back in the day - who would you have on here and who would you let go? Think it is a fair assesment of the spandex clad music? Or are you too ashamed to admit it? *lol*

So, today is my first day of not smoking. I decided it was time to quit. Why?  Well there is a story involved – so sit back, grab a sammich and a beer and make yourself comfy:

My mother, who was my best friend and my staunchest supporter in my life, died 4 years ago 05 May. It was pretty sudden and left me feeling quite lost at 42. My mom was this awesome Scots/Irish woman. She was maybe 5 feet tall but made up for it with her personality. She was an amazing cook [actually chef if truth be told but without any formal training], a wonderful wife and a great mom. She had an undetected blood clot in her leg that traveled to her lung. One day she passed out in the bathroom, smacked her head on the vanity and in that brief moment it was discovered she lost about 75% capacity in her lung. She couldn’t breathe after that time without oxygen, couldn’t walk any distance without exhaustion. My mom, who had always been a whirlwind, was a shadow of herself and it broke my heart. I mean, she was still mom, just not MOM, you know?  Last time I saw her was Yule before she died and I had promised to come back for a visit my birthday in July. She died before I could keep my promise, 4 days before Mothers Day. My mom never smoked, never drank, never did anything BAD. Every year at this time I still feel the loss so bad I cry …. Yes I miss my mommy! I am not ashamed to admit that. So long story short - I had told myself I would quit smoking at her funeral – after all I have been smoking for years and I knew she didn’t like it. But I am a total black sheep: I smoke, I drink, I am divorced, I have tattoos and metal, I live in ‘sin’ and I am not Christian. So, it was part rebellion on my part but a rebellion that could kill me in time. Luckily thru genes of my birth parents I suppose, I am blessed enough by Fate to have almost NO major ill effects. I don’t get bronchitis, I don’t have smokers hack, my lungs are extremely clear for all the abuse amazingly. Aside from sinus issues, and not being able to REALLY taste food, I am pretty lucky. But I wasn’t READY. But for some reason, coming up on 4 years after I made that promise to myself [promises to yourself seem MUCH harder to keep than promises to others, ever notice that? I guess because you can’t disappoint yourself and see THAT look. You know the look I know you do], I decided it was time. I kind of wavered in my resolve yesterday on the way home in stopping to get the ‘gum’ to help. I almost didn’t but thought ‘WTF! C’mon! Buck up and do it!’ So into Walgreens I went and WOW! They had the store brand on sale! If that isn’t a sign from the gods I don’t know what is! So here I sit, on my second piece for the day, which is pretty good for having gotten up at 0430 and it is 0904 as I type this line. Wish me luck! Prayers are good too - they are all one in the end

{Oh side note: Fox needs a ‘LIFE’ blog section. This isn’t really in the parameters of 'Faith' but it could be if I follow up with the side effects …… well maybe not. I’d scare you I’m sure [wink]}

I was just checking out  ABCnews. com and found this article:

http://blogs.abcnews.com/scienceandsociety/2008/04/
death-and-your.html

You know, I have never thought about this but it does have me wondering about ethical and legal ramifications: What if someone you love committed suicide and they left no explaination as to why? Would it be ethical to search for this by hacking their accounts or for ISP's to provide you with correspondence that may shed some light on the why? Would the privacy of someone they told, who thought perhaps they were not serious be protected? And should it? Or perhaps [in the extreme] someone who said 'Oh dude, why don't you just off yourself!' in a saved IM, text or email and they did - would that person then be liable for charges? Where do you draw the line between privacy and death? After all this was a 'private' communication right? Or at least as private as one can get in the digital age - is there a line between privacy of the person in question and the families need to know? Should there be a line? Is it ethical?
