Klutz brought up a good point in one of my blog posts: common sense. Is this something you are born with or something you gain with time? No, I am serious. My thinking - one is born with this. It is genetic, like being straight or gay, it is in your genes [in case issue: NO ONE CHOOSES TO BE GAY!  {nuff said so do not choose to bash ok? I WILL NOT tolerate}.] So, common sense - is this something you are born with or something you learn through experience? Give me your thoughts. I have been taught you are BORN with common sense {ie- right from wrong, good decisions from bad, real from fantasy} or is this something your parents gave you thru learning thru your formative years? Opinions?

Hello Again Kitty,

You're going to get a ton of comments on the gay issue. Any post with that mention is a lock for triple digit comments.

I don't think this issue will ever get nailed down. Even when one "side" provides irrefutable scientific evidence (and they will at some point, probably already have), the other "side" will cite the motives, funding, scientific methodology etc. for why the evidence is flawed; not to mention the advocacy groups that get behind any such research.

In college I had psych classes that said all behavior and tendencies are prewired. I also had sociology classes that said all behavior is learned. We'll never get to the bottom of it.

Still, we all have opinions and you asked for mine. My thoughts? common sense is learned.

I just thought of something your experience may help me with, somewhat along the lines of this issue:

I've never been a big fan of scotch but Irish whiskey goes down like kool-aid. This is arse-backwards I realize but I have no explanation. It also hurts me as a descendant of Scots and not-so-much Irish.

Any thoughts or advice as a Celt? Learned? Genetic?

Hills - *LOL*

Eddie - surprisingly no, it did not open a can of worms. Amazing huh? I don't know - I think it is pre-wired - the basic sense of well sense. As for whisky v whiskey - I tend to prefer single malt myself. Not Genetic as I am Irish but taste specific. Whiskey just doesn't have that smokey after taste of a good single malt : ) If you come to TSF I'll show you what I mean..I'll bring you to the dark side *LOL*
