I have to say that watching the report this morning about the owner of the donut shop recovering from what would have been her second robbery, I was impressed by two things.  The neighbor who didn't hesitate when he heard her calls for help, and her work ethic stood out in this story.  So many just turn a blind eye or think they just don't want to get involved when something is happening, but this man grabbed his shotgun and went to her aid.  I'm just hoping he isn't charged since the would be robber had a fake gun instead of a real one.  It sounded like he wouldn't be on the report.  Then this lady fought off the robber and has vivible scratches on her arm.  After fighting him off and going through this ordeal, she went back to work because she says she has people depending on her delivery of their orders.  Two people stand out this morning and make my optimism bloom today!

I saw that same report and I agree. Nice to see that people will step up and help someone in need. I too hope the guy doesn't get into trouble. I think that the public will raise he!! if they try to.

The donuts aren't the only things that have a hole in it this morning.

Another one bites the dust! Texas Justice... don't you just love it! This is one person who won't be slapped on the hands and set back out on the street to repeat offend. Bravo to the neighbor!

The neighbor was smart and didn't talk to the media. Memories of Rebecca Aguilar and ambush "Trigger Happy" interview must have been remembered.

I sure a Grand Jury will "No Bill" the neighbor. Now if he just doesn't talk to Emily Lopez.

More and more of this is going to happen. As the economy sours, those who see others as a means to their end just may finding another end they don't expect.

IMO alot of this crime takes place not for money to feed some baby they are trying to care for but it's being done to go down the street and buy another crack rock

Kudos to that woman and her hero

Both are reasons, TM, but dope is probably the bigger cause.

WOW props to the protector.. so this day begins the era of the texas shoot outs.. so bretheren gunners? i have a question for you.. what happens when robbers realize now a days its just wiser to kill and rob then let a victim live? what happens when robbers decide to shoot THEN steal?... what happens? you're inciting a war with criminal-minded folks.. becareful what you wish for.

im glad she lived, i just hope there isnt someone out there wanting revenge on the neighbor..

priceless ignorant media..

Is it possible that the thief that got shot will wake up in heaven?

I hope other theives will think twice about robbing a business or person. They may end up on in a coffin aswell.

Hurray for the good guys!!!!

I'm glad most of you agree that the good neighbor did the right thing. I've questioned myself on a regular basis since I carry a handgun. I am a great shot and I am licensed, and I have never doubted if I would protect my home, car, family, or myself. I have wondered if I would think quickly enough and step up to do what needed to be done to protect a neighbor or even a stranger who needed protection. I hope I would.

sue, hope you're around if i ever need you. :)
i bet you would think quickly enough to protect someone in trouble. Hope it never happens to you but if so...we'll give you Kudos ( i know that must bring you great relief) LOL

Since this lady had been robbed twice, in as many months. She was smart enough to rush out the door screaming, and she was very fortunate that someone heard her, and had a weapon.

Raven, we're not trying to incite any type of riot. However, have you noticed that there are more and more people stealing ATM machines? More and more people stealing copper wiring out of street lamps and sprinklers?

Food is skyrocketing, gasoline is through the roof. I stopped at a gas station, yesterday, and the person before me paid $97.50 for a tank of gasoline.

Do you really think that it's just the junkies who need a fix, who are committing these robberies? It's probably someone trying to pay for their gasoline, or to keep their house, or to buy groceries.

Either way, it's wrong, and maybe robbers will think twice, before trying to rob someone else.

Aren’t you the same people who were crying about the three bad guys getting beat up by the cops? I guess it’s ok to just shot the bad guys as long as the cops don’t do it.

Shoot all the bad guys. Cops or civilians, it's open season all year round on thieves.

Or....it's someone we seem to have an epidemic of in our society....someone who doesn't work at a job, but steals for a living.

I wonder if we will ever get to the point that there is a criminal hunting season? PackerBacker has me thinking that with the way the expense of deer hunting has gotten so outrageous, we could open season on criminals. Instead of a set amount of bucks and does, there would be so many you can shoot in the leg to stop them and bring them in (burglars and non-violent theives), so many you can castrate with a nicely placed round (child rapists), etc. Just thinking here.....

Gee, sue. I like your thinking. Wonder if we'd need a hunting license?

I'm just sayin'............

Bravo to acoolone! My thoughts exactly! Why is it that a citizen can shoot and kill but if a cop does so in the line of duty he/she are labeled bully with a badge? Why is it ok for citizens with guns to take the law into their own hands?

I am married with three grown children. The last one just moved out so we are experiencing "empty nest" quite happily. No dogs, no cats, or anything else to take care of. I am a proud American, Texan and Southern woman. I am very proud of my son, who is serving in the US Navy. I am bilingual as I speak English and Texan. We are currently looking to relocate in Farmers Branch.
