The
AccuWeather.com Hurricane Center reports that Gustav has intensified to a strong tropical storm with maximum-sustained winds of 70 mph.

At 7 a.m. EDT, the storm was 80 miles east of Kingston,
Jamaica, and 170 miles south of Guantanamo, Cuba.
Gustav is forecast to strengthen to a hurricane tonight as the storm pushes away from Jamaica. Expert Senior Meteorologist John Kocet says there is nothing to hamper development as Gustav moves through the western Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico. The storm this weekend is forecast to become a major hurricane, with maximum sustained winds of at least 111 mph. The storm will pose a serious threat to lives and property next week along the Gulf Coast. All interests from the Florida Panhandle to

Postoffice Street Cam
Once notorious for its bordellos, Postoffice Street was the bustling core of retail commerce in the Southwest's most important Cotton and Oil port. It survived the 1900 Storm and the depression of the 30s only to fall prey to the suburban shift of the 60s and the building of the Houston Ship Channel.
The Postoffice Street restoration of the 90s created a revitalized arts, entertainment, and residential district including more than 25 historic buildings. Besides the growing number of residential lofts, the area includes art galleries, boutiques, and shops.
The Galveston.com Postoffice Street Cam is located at MOD Coffee House.

STS-123 Completes First Full Day in Space

Circling the globe aboard space shuttle Endeavour, the STS-123 crew members have completed their first full day in space. The astronauts inspected the orbiter’s heat shield and prepared for their arrival at the International Space Station tonight at 11:25 p.m. EDT.
Crew members used the shuttle’s robotic arm and Orbiter Boom Sensor System (OBSS) to check out the underside of Endeavour and the leading edges of its wings. The purpose of this inspection was to ensure that, during the vehicle’s climb to orbit, no damage occurred to the tiles that protect Endeavour from the heat of reentry.
Endeavour’s crew also extended the Orbiter Docking System Ring and checked out rendezvous tools in preparation for their arrival at the station.
The STS-123 astronauts checked out spacesuits they will use during the mission’s five scheduled spacewalks at the station. Three of these will include tasks devoted to assembly of Dextre, the Canadian Space Agency’s newest contribution to the station and the final element of its Mobile Servicing System, and installation of related equipment. The spacewalkers also will work to unberth from Endeavour’s payload bay the Japanese Logistics Module - Pressurized Section, the first element of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s Kibo laboratory.
Other spacewalk activities include the installation of spare parts, tools and a materials experiment, as well as the replacement of a circuit-breaker box and demonstration of a repair procedure for tiles of the shuttle’s heat shield. The astronauts also will stow the OBSS onto the station’s main truss during the fifth spacewalk.

Life is a puzzle, that comes without guides,
No picture on the box, nor instructions inside.
The pieces will fit, many different ways.
When put in their places, there they will stay. Piece by piece, the puzzle we build.
Life half finished, but no instructions still.
Not liking the picture that's beginning to show,
How can we change it ? To whom shall we go ? Surely there's an author of this puzzles goal.
Where is his plan to guide this soul ?
There must be an answer, but where do I look ?
Isn't there a solution, somewhere in a book ? YES ! There's a solution, a marvelous plan,
God given instructions to make ideal man.
The example is Jesus. The picture is plain.
He gave his life, that ours, he might gain. He gave us instructions, in his Holy Word.
More vividly stated than we ever heard.
They are sufficient. They're all we need.
So, follow them exactly, and you will succeed.
