The Bluebonnet Civitan Club celebrates it's 60th anniversary with a Casino night fundraiser. Tickets are $20 and include playing chips and hors d'oeuvres. There will be prizes and a silent auction. The time is from 7pm to 10pm. The location is the new La Quinta Inn at Hwy 360 and Hwy 30 in Arlington, close to Six Flags. Since it is the 60th anniversary, there will be a little 40's theme with music and maybe some people dressed in 40's style clothing.
The event is Saturday October 13th. If anyone is interested, lyou can reply to this message and I will give you more information.
The Bluebonnet Civitan club was the original Oak Cliff Civitan club. The club began in Oak Cliff and also was called the Duncanville Civitan Club at one point. It eventually became the Bluebonnet Civitan Club. We currently meet in Grand Prairie with members from GP, Irving, Cedar Hill, Dallas, Lewisville, and Watauga. Meetings and membership is open to anyone wanting to help out the community. We have some regular events we participate in like the MDA telethon(boo to that other network for taking us off during our phone time. I was on phone 6 and had two donations in two hours), MDA Stride and Ride, Autism Walk, ARC Valentine's Dance, Mosaic dances, Salvation Army, Special Olympics. We also have two local Jr. Civitan clubs. 1 at SGP high school and 1 at Barnett JH in Arlington. Just a few other things we have done: We give scholarships, wheel chairs, money for camp, and school supplies.
We have speakers from the community, and we have socials. We have a good time helping others. There is a website for the International organization www.civitan.org

I already submitted, but then had internet interruption so it didn't go through.

From Southwest Grand Prairie-Tarrant county.

After last night's damage, I now have hail and lightening-REALLY CLOSE LIGHTENING. We just got through covering the windows and picking up the glass from last night when my husband said, "Hail!" I had not parked in the garage because of the repairs we were making. We very quickly moved my old car and put my new one in the garage. I have had it less than two weeks. It has been coming down pretty hard now for about 30 minutes.

Thank you to Home Depot in GP. Even though the lights were out, they were open for me to get some wood and some other items to make temporary repairs.

Time Warner and Comcast assured customers that we would still have the same level of service. First, they can not reach an agreement with the NFL network, then some of the channels included with certain packages changed. Now, while trying to turn to SportsTalk (my channel guide is not yet updated. I guess I have to unplug my box or something), I get Jewelry Television and see that Time Warner may discontinue FOX 4 and MY27. They say they are "alerting our customers." If they were truly "alerting" their customers, they would show this message on KDFW and KDFI. They are hiding this information on some obscure channel that few people watch. Someone give me the number to DirectTV and get me away from these cowards. I want my choices. I don't want Roadrunner either. I want to keep my Comcast internet. I should have the choice to keep my internet company and not switch over when the time comes. This is wrong, and we're supposed to accept it. I don't think so.

Mother of two. We love sports in our house. We love to watch the Cowboys, Rangers, and the Mavericks, and sometimes the Stars, but I would rather see hockey at the AAC, not on tv. Born and raised in DFW. Got married and moved away for a while but I came back when I could-without him, but he soon followed. He couldn't help himself.
