How many children are going to have to be hurt or killed before Pitt Bulls are banned from Texas soil? Most people who own these dogs like the stigma of owning a bad, powerful dog. I do not agree with good ones and bad ones, the breed was bred to kill. It is in all of them to kill when provoked and sometimes just for the kill. When a child's life is second to a dog, they do not care about that child and are not going to follow rules, even if stricter rules are made. Texas needs to protect the children. I say "ban", no Pitt Bulls in Texas, period.

Perhaps it is time to license them, have the owners accept insuring them, and tightening the leash on their freedom.

Maybe it's time to educate people as to what breed of dog they need for their purposes.A Pitt is not a backyard city dog.A better dog for protection is a German Shepherd or maybe a large terrier.Out in the sticks,a Pitt is better able to take care of itself against the varmints.I can see banning the large guard breeds in the city.A Bull Mastiff is just as dangerous, but when one attacks(which is about as often as Pitts)it doesn't get the publicity.Granted they don't do quite as much damage, but they are just as aggressive. In the other site where you commented, word for word with this blog, you probably read my comments about how our dogs are on cable and pulley systems.I would never own a dog that had to be kept on a short leash. That alone will make them mean.

Sure, who will actually register a dog that is used for fighting. Hell the people that have those dogs can't even afford car insurance! How would you do it? The dam city won't investigate until somebody gets hurt! A license, that's a bright idea. Do you know how many people are driving without a license. Hell PETA might have something to say about it?

I THINK IT'S TIME THESE PEOPLE BE HELD RESPONSABLE AND PUT IN JAIL FOR HAVING PIT BULL'S EXSPECAILLY AROUND CHILDREN THAT ARE SOOOO HELPLESS AGAINST THESE DOG'S THE SOONER THE BETTER THEN MAYBE JUST MAYBE PEOPLE WILL QUIT BUYING PIT'S AND TRAINING THEM TO FIGHT.BUT I SERIOUSLY DOUBT IT THEY THING IT'S COOL TO WATCH DOG'S TEAR EACH OTHER APART AND PROBABLY FIGURE IT AIN'T NO BIG DEAL WHEN THEY GO AFTER A PERSON.I'M REALLY TIRED OF READING ABOUT ANOTHER INNOCENT CHILD BEING MAULED BECAUSE OF SOME ELSE'S STUPIDITY.

This is the stupid bias that I was writing about once before.Because a few low lifes use a breed for fighting, you automatically assume every owner does.Using that logic we must ban the ownership and production of the Caddilac Escalade because it is the prefered vehicle of gangs and drug dealers. So if you own one you must be a drug dealer or gang leader.Ther will be people that fight dogs. You can completely wipe out the entire Pitt population and these low lifes will use another breed. Then after several generations that breed will become more aggressive. What is the next breed you do away with, how about Bull Mastiffs. They are just as dangerous and some idiots, like a newsman in Denver a few months ago, can't tell them apart. They were shown loading the dog up on camera. He said the BM was a Pitt.I still haven't heard who owned the dogs in this event,or how they got into the house, but I did hear that the park doesn't allow them.

The dogs that were bred to fight, do not make good country dogs, if the neighbors have animals. These kind of dogs get bored and find something to do. Blue Heelers are not vicious dogs, but they are bred to herd and work cattle. If you don't give them what they were raised to do, they will find it in the nearest animals, and if they are not taught how to do it, if they get the taste of blood they can kill a calf, goat, or whatever is available, because they are frustrated.
In this situation with Pitts, where so many children have been harmed, I don't think bias can even be considered as an issue here.
I believe the people who have any breed of animal that has the potential to kill, or be too agressive, around children do not put enough value on that child's life. I agree they should be held responsible. But people like this do not listen. Look at the statistics. Ban them. Ban Bull Mastiffs if they become a problem. Ban the cadillac if it starts attacking children.

I think you need to do a little research instead of listening to know nothings. The Pitt bull was not bred originally to fight other dogs. Some are being trained that way, just as some Pugs are trained to dog fight.Bet you didn't know that. The Pitt was bred to be a guard dog,to protect property.Maybe one in a thousand is bad,and usually that is caused by inbreeding.Any breed can be inbred and create bad offspring.Stray dogs come around our Pitts all the time. They have never offered to fight.PS three children were shot in a Chicago drive by just two weeks ago from an Escalade.I think they shoul crush it.LOL

I agree crush that sucker...
What about Great Pyranese dogs? Have you ever heard of them attacking people. I know they are bred to guard. I do know for sure that fact. lol. Nope I didn't know about the Pugs. That is just wrong. I don't like chicken fighting either.

Registering is a good idea. Just like handgun owners. Good idea.

I have had to shoot a pit bull in Australia when I worked armed security. I knew it was going to be me or the dog.

The owner said that he would sue me over that. But he was the one that faced the judge, not me. This breed of dog should be wiped out. They were bread for fighting and that is all they know.

I will be glad when they are no more.

Not a single dog that has been marked as "dangerous" animals here in the US were bred for fighting or killing, etc...

They came from other countries bred as herding dogs.

If you people will do your research, you would know this.

Shoot the owners.......not the dogs, for not properly raising their dogs.

I have gone on some sights and they basically say the same thing. These dogs were originally bred to bring down unruly cattle, herd cattle, fight bear, wild hogs, etc. If anyone has ever been around a hog dog. They know that this dog will fight to death with a wild hog. It will also kill any other dog or animal that it feels threatened by or if it just doesn't like it being in it's territory. Pitts were bred to fight. To bring a cow down, bear down, wild hog down, they have to be taught to be aggressive, and fight. To protect land, animals, owner, they are taught to be aggressive. Along with the original teaching of these dogs that was bred in to them, and the idiots who took them and inbred them, etc. We now have a dog that has turned in to a menace. You can look at this situation in every way there are ones who want to be blind to the aggressiveness this dog is born with, they are also ones that may witness first hand what they don't believe will happen. And that is unforunate. http://thebullyhouse.net/pitbullhistory sums it up pretty good. They show all sides.
