I saw on Fox news tonight the feature about the two teenagers from Frisco who died when their car hit a tree in the median along Main Street. OK, my sympathies go with their families... but, the report said they were running 60 on a 45, and must have over-corrected their vehicle and thus hit the tree.
Why in the world was the teenage driver overspeeding?
When will the teenagers learn that when they go flying on the street in their vehicles they not just endanger their lives but the lives of other motorists as well? I always wonder what the parents are doing to check the driving behavior of their children, and why on earth do they buy their children virtual missiles on the road (fast vehicles). Sure, it is a status symbol (read: COOL) for youngsters to drive fast cars, but it almost always becomes a death trap for them.
Teenagers are not ready to handle fast vehicles. They are not responsible enough and not mature enough to handle such dangerous equipment. Check the statistics and you will see what I am talking about. If you want your children to hand around on earth for a long time, parents, use your wise judgment and do not fall for their whims. Starter cars should be simple vehicles that will take much effort to fly on the road (and it is not even the freeway!).
I almost wept with the families and schoolmates while watching TV, but when I saw the circumstances behind their death, my tears retreated. The words that came out of my mouth were: When will these teenagers learn????
