I am sending this message to all people out there.  I want everyone to ask themselves a question, and then let me know what the answer is.  If you were to die right now, are you 100% sure you would go to heaven, and if you are sure, why?  Why do you think you will go to heaven?  I am just curious what everyone thinks, please reply back.

There is only one way into Heaven. That is a personal relationship with Jesus. Just believeing in Jesus is not enough. We all believe in lots of things. You have to believe and ACCEPT Jesus as your Lord and Savior. When a person truly believes in the Name of the Lord Jesus, and asks Jesus into their heart, they are going to Heaven. It is not necessary to say the sinner's prayer. One simply needs to ask forgiveness for their sins, repent, and let Jesus do the rest. God already knows the intentions of the heart before we ask. Whosoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved. People have many wrong ideas about what makes them a Christian. Most sre wrong. The Bible tells us that there is a way that seems right to man, but the end result is death. That is spiritual death, eternal seperation from God, in hell. Unfortunately, most people will follow the wrong path.

Thank you red river, I agree with you 100%, there are so many people that think there good works will get them to heaven. A lot of people claim there is other ways to heaven, but that just isn't right, that is the reason I posted this blog, to see who out there thinks they are going to heaven because they are supposedly "GOOD" people, and because of that, they will end up in heaven.

Many people think just being good is enough. They think that God will not condemn a person to hell for the things they do. It is not the things a person does that will condemn them. It is rejecting Jesus that seals one's eternal destiny. God is fair and patient, but He is also just. He will be patient for only a season, then He will lift the Holy Spirit's influence on a person's life. When that happens, He will not restore the Spirit. "The Spirit will strive with mankind for only a season". There is no further hope for that person. His punishment for rejecting Jesus is severe, with no second chances after that. There is not a good person on the earth. We are all sinful people. There are two types of people in the world. Saved sinners, and lost sinners.

Paul sure has a lot to say about this in his epistle to the Galatians. To be saved is grace plus nothing. There is this thing called the man-in-the-street religion. You can wlak up to someone in the street and ask, Dop you have a relationship with Jesus? They may say "well, I am a good person, I do good things. Being good or doing good doesn't get it done. If I read Isaiah 64:6 right, all the good things we could do might as well not be good if done apart from Christ. Jesus even said "Not everyone who says 'Lord, Lord' will enter the Kingdom".

I am heaven bound. See, I already possess eternal life. All my righteousness is as filthy rags.

However, by placing my trust in Christ for the remission of my sins, I ahave been imputed with His righteousness.

Therefore, when the Father looks at me, He sees the righteousness of His Son, not my sin.

Indeed, I am saved by grace alone, not anything I have done or could ever do.

Zig Ziglar says it best: We've already won.

Of course Zig says a lot of things best.

Zig is a member of Prestonwood. Has been for years. He has some health issues, and no longer teaches. But he is still the greatest ! One of the nicest men on the face of the earth.

Shows you that I've been playing hookey lately! I love to hear him speak anytime I get the chance - our whole office went to PowerLunch when he was going to be there!

Doh! He may be now but years ago I remember he was at FBC Dallas before there was a Prestonwood.

I go to Bent Tree right down the street.

scotty, Zig was at FBC several years ago. By the way, if you ever have the chance to go to Powerlunch, please try it. It will be worth your time. A great buffet is served for 7.50, and the speaker is always very good. It starts at 11:45 and is usually out by the time a normal lunch break is over. Bent Tree is a great church. I hear very good things about the church. I wish Bent Tree and Prestonwood would get together a couple of times a year, and we could fellowship together. Once in a while Tony Evans will speak, or another nationally known speaker.Prestonwood started in 1977, so FBC has been around much longer. Our home church in Amarillo was started by one of the Criswells.

I have a friend in Stinnette who belongs to a Baptist church up in that area. Solid guy.

I love the preaching at Pwood but the welcoming and fellowship is this. That's the only reason I left for Bent Tree.

Now BT is starting to grow big time and I am concerned with the gazillion people who don't know one another there as well.

It may be close to time to move on and find a personable gathering.

Both churches are sound doctrinally so you sure can't go wrong there!

scotty, we have 600+ members in our choir. I know most of them, as well as a great number of Pwood members. To do that I had to step out of my comfort zone and agressively meet new people. It is very rewarding. Most people will not do that. They will not reach out to others or even try to meet new people. So, most people in the church do not know many other people. That is why I am a greeter for the church. I love meeting folks who visit, and I love to make them feel welcome, and at the same time, share the love of Christ with them. People just need to be friendlier and more outgoing to one another. I have heard that FBC Carrollton is good. Not sure how big the church is.

Scotty - I agree with you on the fellowship bit. I have been looking for a bible fellowship class for 3 years. *sigh* great thing to remind me about on Saturday night!

RedRiver - I grew up at FBC Carrollton - they lost a lot of members that I know when Dr. Allen retired and they made Brent the pastor - he's young and impetuous. I'm actually tempted to go there in the morning - see if they got the kinks straightened out.

I am a 40 yr old white retired male. I was forced to retire for health reasons. God has blessed my life tremendously, I have a 4 year old son and a 20 year old son. I am a photographer, and a born again Christian. On occasion, I do preach sermons at my church. I am also a puppeteer for children's church, and have been for about 2 or 3 years. My youngest son everyone says is going to be our churches next pastor. I love him so much. My oldest son is living with his fiance now. He has decided to get married next march, and that makes me sad since I was his age when I got married, and that didn't work. I do hope that it works out. I love both my sons very much, and my love for my children makes me understand the love God has for us. I may not be the perfect person, but I work for someone that is perfect (Jesus).
