My heart goes out to this little boy and his family.  This is so very sad, I am sure he was terrified in his last moments of life as those dogs were attacking him.  This should not have happened.  Bless his little heart.

This is a very sad story. That is too young an age to have such a terrible thing happen. My prayers are with the family.

My heart and prayers go out to this family. It is such a sad story. How many more children have to die or be disfigured before we take action and outlaw pit bulls? They serve no purpose and should not be allowed to reproduce. These types of dogs are a danger to our society and I don't understand why people still breed them.

I HOPE GOD IS WITH THE FAMILY THERE IS NOTHING MORE TRAGIC THEN LOSING A CHILD TO A DANGEROUS ANIMAL THAT THE STATE FAIL'S TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT.THAT BREED SHOULD BE ABOLISHED SEEM'S THERE MORE WORRIED ABOUT OFFENDING SOMEBODY THEN TO ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

And to top it all off no charges have been filed against the owners of those dogs. They should be made to pay all the expenses that little boys family will incur.
What the HECK were they doing loose anyway? Those dogs are a menice to society!
How many mauls has this been in the last month from Pit Bulls? One is too many!

My heart and prayers go out to the family.

I hope they press charges against the owners for allowing such vicious dogs to run loose. Manslaughter will do for a start.

Many years back a woman was attacked and killed in the hall of her apartment in NY by her neighbors pit bull. The dog was put down and the owner was charged with the womans murder. Maybe Texas should toughen up on the laws where these dogs are concerned. Maybe then the owners will keep them locked up.

It is ashamed that this attack happened. The owners should face the consequences for allowing the dogs to run loose. However, I will also say that i believe that pit bulls are unfairly given a bad rap. I have a friend who has a pit bull that wouldn't hurt a fly. It is a big baby. My next door neighbor also has a pit bull which is laso a big baby. I was followed home one day by a pit bull when walking my own dog. The pit was such a big baby, I didn't even know it was a pit bull until I called the owners vet so I would know where to take it. The whole way to its vet it just wanted lots of love and to give lots of kisses. There is a list on which dogs are ranked as to how dangerous they are. It ranks them according to their bite. I have had a vet at my own animal clinic as well as a tech at the 24 hour clinic I use when my pets need attention after hours tell me that pit bulls are actually way down the list. If anyone is interested in knowing a specific breed that is at the top of that list the chow is at least number four meaning it really is extremely dangerous. I remember a chow breaking through my parents wood fence years ago.

People don't care if they did they would not have these horrible dog's to begin with you would think they would get that threw there head's from all news coverage on this problem alone.Manslaughter would be a fitting charge at the minimum the maybe people will wake up to the fact that these dog's are a danger to the general public.

Any dog's disposition depends on how it was raised. If a dog was raised to be agressive it will be agressive. Also a dog's sense af smell is very different from that of a human's. When a dog smells the scent of a human or that of another animal it smells more than the scent. It also smells the emotions. Dogs can smell fear, agression, anger, and affection. For instance, if a dog smells fear, it will attack simply because it knows by smelling fear that it has the upper hand. Sometimes the media dosn't tells us everything or doesn't know all the facts. I am not saying this boy did this, but sometimes small children can play rough with animals. I saw my sister-in-law's neice 2 yrs ols)pull a cat's tail at my brother's inlaw's house once.

pmo2375 I agree with you about a dog's disposition depends on how it was raised. I know there are many people that think these are bad dogs all the way around no matter what. I have been bitten up, pretty bad, by a rot but I do not have a bad opinion of all rots. I admit I have a pit bull/ boxer mix. I also know that there are a lot of TRASH (I think we all know what I am talking about) out there that are attracted to the pit bull breed and they would not know how to raise a dog of any kind. Maybe pits have a disposition to attack more than others, I do not know. I do know that these dogs probably did not have any business being out.

And I do agree that owners of ANY breed of dog ARE responsible if their dog attacks anyone what so ever.

I agree with you wiserb79 about ALL owners must be held responsible for their dog's actions!!! I have known nice pits and rots also but I still do not trust them nor would I ever own one. I really think they should stop reproducing them and we will see a drop in attacks.

Yes I agree it would have to be a ban because just letting particular individuals own them cannot be controlled well enough.

Once again, the actions of a few will terminate the rights of all. A dog is a reflection of it's owner. Plain and simple. Pit bulls are great dogs when owned by great people. Bless the child and his family, jail the owners. If people know they will be held accountable, maybe they will take pet ownership more seriously. Give pits a break! Ever watch Dog Whisperer? Geez.

I don't think I agree with you, Spaz.

These certain breeds have been known to turn on the family who raised them and attack a child. Even after they were raised as a nice family pet.

I just think certain breeds are prone to violence and you're taking YOUR safety and the safety of OTHERS in your own hands when you get one.

I am full of opinions today.

I am a 28 year old mom and wife. I have an 9 year old son and a husband that likes to act like a kid. I guess you could say I have 2 kids. I live in Argyle (5 mi. south of Denton) and love living in the country, I grew up here and hated it, as any kid would, now you could not get me to leave. Anyway, I love to go camping, fishing and enjoy working in my yard, spring is my favorite time of year. I do watch Fox 4 a lot.
